TWO WAY TIE IN WESTERN BORDER

The 2014 Brian Hennessy Medal for the best and fairest in the Western Border Football League medal count held yesterday resulted in a 2 way tie between Casterton/Sandford coach Dylan Ayton and North Gambier on-baller Richie O’Grady, both finishing on 20 votes. Ayton, who is in his 2ndyear at Casterton spoke in glowing terms about the football he had encountered since his coaching began and looked forward to next year for his team which had finished in 4th spot. O’Grady who was unable to be present due to injury was previously a winner of this award in 2012 and his club are hopeful that he will be available to play in this week’s WB Grand Final. He has been at North Gambier since 2012 having been recruited from Glenelg in the SANFL where he had been a team-mate of current North Gambier coach Justin McConnell.
