BAKER WINS MEDAL, TEAM OF YEAR ANNOUNCED

Shaun Baker, Willaston won the Schluter and Mail Medals on Monday night for being judged the Fairest and Most Brilliant A-Grade Footballer playing in the Barossa, Light & Gawler Football Association during the 2009 season. He is the first Willaston player to win it since he himself won it in 2007 and he is also the first Willaston player to win two medals and first player to win more than one medal since Mark Pitman. Willaston has now won 11 Medals including the former Gawler & District League. The count was run by the B., L. & G. Assn. at the Vine Inn Hotel-Motel, Nuriootpa.
The Rookie of the Year was a tie for the first time ever between Tom Willoughby, Freeling and Ben Schiller, Tanunda. It was the first win by Freeling since Darren Leske in 2000 and first win by Tanunda since Rowan Miegel in 2006.
The Senior Colt Footballer of the Year was Charlie Molyneux of Gawler Central for the second year in a row.
Shaun Baker, Willaston also won "The Bunyip" Writers’ Trophy.
The second Peter Vivian Coaches Player of the Year was Jarrod Tregenza of Nuriootpa.
Other Best and Fairest Medal winners were Gregg Falkenberg, Nuriootpa (Reserves); Max Doherty, Freeling Under 17’s (Central District Football Club Bulldog Medal) and Jackson Jaensch, Nuriootpa Under 15’s (Des Shanahan Medal).
The top goalkicking trophies went to Alex Kennedy, Tanunda, with 93 goals in the A-Grade for the second year in a row (Barossa Trophies); Shane O’Donoghue, South Gawler, with 47 goals in the Reserves (John and Elva Falland Trophy); Under 17’s was Cooper Pinch, Gawler Central with 53 goals (J. T. Johnson & Sons Trophy) and Connor Schneider, Nuriootpa in the Under 15’s with 87 goals (Peter Rosenberg Trophy).
The Champion Club of the Year was Nuriootpa and Jackson Jaensch, Nuriootpa Under 15’s also won the Most Consistent Medal for polling in the most games which was 15 out of 16.
The Senior Coach of the Year will be the premiership coach and Tony Linke, Nuriootpa was the Junior Coach of the Year.

New Coach for Angaston Panthers

The Angaston Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Craig
Hadden as the A-Grade Coach for 2009.

Craig has been the Reserves Coach for the past two years and knows the club
inside out, having been involved as a player and coach for over 20 years.

Craig tied for the A-Grade Best & Fairest with Matthew Doecke in 1998. He
has played 282 A-Grade games to be second on the all time A-Grade games
played list and has kicked 167 goals in A-Grade after making a name for
himself as a fullback.

Craig won the Under 15 Best & Fairest in 1985 and was also the captain. He
captained the Under 17's in 1987, coached Under 17's in 1994 and the Auskick
in 2007.

Due to work commitments when he lived in Sydney he missed out on playing in
the 2003 premiership but now hopes to coach a premiership.
