Grand Final Preview - at Tintinara 8/9/2012
BDT v Karoonda
BDT will be fresh and keen for the Grand Final at Tintinara this week. The only concern is Clint Richardson who suffered a cheek injury in the Second Semi Final. The midfield of BDT is strong with plenty of options to work through including Josh Keller, Lachlan Richardson & Josh Richardson who did most of the damage in attack 2 weeks ago. Jarran Crabb has blanketed Ben Quinn in recent matches with Patrick Barrett possessing explosive pace from a wing. Kevin Kock, Ty McKenna & Hayden Schilling handle the ruck & key forward duties with Shane Binns a dangerous presence at full forward. Brett Todd & Ben Hooper will kick goals if not watched closely. Lee Slape & Chris Gregory lead a solid defence giving little away.
Karoonda put up a gutsy performance to overcome Lameroo after 2 poor performances against BDT and an ordinary first quarter in the Preliminary Final. The midfield showed some spirit, led by Mark Corrie who plays uncompromising football. Zakk Bullard and Ben Quinn put in strong performances with Corey Knight a danger in attack and on the ball. Lucas Neumann returned to strong form in ruck & up forward and received good back up from Nick Zander. Simon Martin and Donald Andrews have an influence on the wings while Ryan Paech played arguably his best match for Karoonda last week to finish with 6 goals. The defence is the strong point with Daniel Thiele, Andrew Smithson, Brodie Chinner, Eli Koch & Josh Rosenzweig being a settled unit for the last half of the season. They will be hoping Jarred Graetz returns to play a key role and assist in defence.
BDT will start red hot favourites to win their third Premiership in a row.
Preliminary Final - September 1, 2012
Best: Karoonda - R. Paech, B. Chinner, Z. Bullard, M. Corrie, S. Harte, B. Quinn. Lameroo - A. Purchase, B. McNeilly, M. Ridgway, J. Ridgway, T. Hancock, J. Kerber. Goals: Karoonda - R. Paech 6, C. Preliminary Final Preview - Lameroo 1/9/2012
A Grade - Karoonda v Lameroo
The form of these sides is at opposite ends of the scale. Karoondas last 2 matches have been against BDT and they have been beaten convincingly on both occasions while Lameroos effort against Murrayville in the First Semi Final was their best of 2012.
Karoonda will be hopeful either or both of Josh Rudiger and Luke Hocking return to bolster the forward line as they have failed to kick a score in recent matches. Mark Corrie, Corey Knight, Zakk Bullard and Ben Quinn have carried the midfield this year and need to get on top to create opportunities to score. The defence is solid with Andrew Smithson, Daniel Thiele, Jarred Graetz, Brodie Chinner, Eli Koch and Josh Rosenzweig a settled unit.
Lameroo look strong in attack with Ricky Hunter, Vaughan Noonan and Dan Wohling all strong marking targets. Shaun Walker, Andrew Purchase and Hayden Thorpe will win plenty of ball in the midfield with Kym Benham a strong performer in ruck.
Billy McNeilly, David Philbey, Matt Ridgway and Brad Zerk will give away nothing in defence.
Lameroo have their best team on the field at the right time and can cause an upset to make the Grand Final.
Second Semi Final at Peake, Saturday 25 August, 2012
Best: BDT - J. Richardson, J. Crabb, T. Miegel, B. Todd, J. Keller, C. Kennett. Karoonda - M. Corrie, H. Zander, B. Chinner, S. Harte, S. Martin, E. Koch. Goals: Bdt - J. Richardson 7, B. Todd 4, S. Binns 2, J. Keller 2, J. Crabb , R. Vandeleur , M. Kempe. Karoonda - R. Paech , C. Knight , B. Quinn , J. Graetz
Preview - Second Semi Final at Karoonda 25/8/2012
A Grade - BDT v Karoonda
BDT won convincingly 2 weeks ago when these sides met in the last round. BDT will welcome back Chris Gregory, Josh Richardson & Mark Vandeleur who missed that match and Karoonda will regain Mark Corrie, Nick Zander & Josh Rudiger.
Hayden Schilling & Kevin Kock will ruck for BDT leaving Ty McKenna & Shane Binns as the key targets in attack. Ben Hooper is dangerous across half forward and Mark Vandeleur is a quick running forward. The midfield is strong with Josh Keller, Patrick Barrett, Clint Richardson and Lachlan Richardson. Josh Richardson will play some part in the midfield but may spend more time up forward.
Chris Gregory & Lee Slape lead a solid defence along with Travis Miegel & Michael Kempe.
Karoonda will need to make the most of every opportunity in attack and Nick Zander, Josh Rudiger and Ryan Paech will need to provide strong marking targets. Lucas Neumann will lead the ruck and Karoondas midfield will match up well with Mark Corrie, Ben Quinn, Corey Knight, Zakk Bullard and Simon Martin all in good form. Daniel Thiele is rebounding well at half back and Andrew Smithson has made life difficult for most full forwards this year. Josh Rosenzweig & Eli Koch are strong defenders with Jarred Graetz & Brodie Chinner proving plenty of run from defence.
BDT have the form on the board and can advance to the Grand Final in 2012
MAIL MEDAL WON BY
The Mail Medal count was held at Murrayville on Sunday. He finished on 24 votes, ahead of Border Downs-Tintinara’s Patrick Barrett (19 votes) and Karoonda’s Ben Quinn (17)

MALLEE MAIL MEDAL PREVIEW
Sunday August 19th Murrayville Hall 12pm (SA Time)
Special Guests Rachel & Kieran Sporn
The Mallee League Mail Medal appears a very open contest in 2012 with some of the top contenders from previous seasons missing games during the season.
Josh Keller & Josh Richardson always poll well in the Mail Medal but both have missed a lot of matches. Patrick Barrett has been very good since returning from West Adelaide and could be around the mark Others who will poll votes include Clint Richardson, Ben Hooper & Jarran Crabb.
Ben Quinn is a proven vote winner with a Mail Medal in RMFL. Corey Knight has backed up last year’s win with another strong season and Zakk Bullard will poll votes as well. Jarred Graetz has been eye catching in defence and Mark Corrie will get votes but missed a lot of matches.
Shaun Walker missed the first half of the season and will not be in the mix this year. Andrew Purchase is eye catching and has a Mail Medal to his credit. Shane Agelis is a quick running forward who kicked some big bags of goals in 2012. Hayden Thorpe is an in and under midfielder who is always under the umpires eye.
Standout at Murrayville is coach Michael Worsman who has lead from the front all year. He will have competition from Nick Rees in the midfield while Trent Sporn and Daniel Fry should attract votes with some strong performances in front of goal.
Rick Berling has had an outstanding year in the midfield and should poll well. Patrick Casey is quality but played injured and missed some matches. Lachlan Wilson is eye catching with his speed from a wing.
A tough year for Pinnaroo although Tyron Bennetts was a highlight and will poll well. Alex Keough will get votes but missed a lot of games
Mallee League Preview
First Semi Final at Peake 18/8/2012
A Grade Lameroo v Murrayville
Lameroo meet Murrayville in the First Semi Final at Peake with a 3 nil winning record for 2012.
Lameroo had Billy McNeilly return last week at full back & will have Vaughan Noonan return this week to further strengthen the defence, Shane Agelis is a speedy small forward who is second on the League goal kicking list and Ricky Hunter is a quick leading key forward. Dan Wohling covers a lot of ground at half forward with Matt & Josh Ridgway also capable of featuring on the scoreboard. The midfield is strong with Shaun Walker, Hayden Thorpe, Andrew Purchase supported by youngsters Danny Steer, Jarred Kerber & Travis Hancock. Then there is the experience of Stephen Kerley, Brad Zerk and Craig Wellburn who rarely paly poor games. Kym Benham is under sized in ruck but is rarely beaten and David Philbey give support in this area.
Murrayville have Michael Worsman in great form in the midfield and Trent Sporn & Daniel Fry as dangerous key forwards. If they are to defeat Lameroo they will need to spread the load and have more contributors. Nick Rees and Thomas Bailey are good ball users while Todd Jones is as good as any ruckman in the League. Jesse Vass & Nick Noblett set up a strong defence with Brad Wyatt & Luke Kirkbright very experienced players who will stand up when required.
Murrayville rely heavily on Trent Sporn & Daniel Fry to kick a winning score and Lameroo have defenders in Billy McNeilly, Vaughan Noonan & David Philbey to restrict their influence.
Lameroo can win & go into the Preliminary Final.

Mallee League Preview 11/8/2012
The final round of Mallee Football still sees Peake with a glimmer of hope to play finals in 2012. They will rely on Pinnaroo upsetting Murrayville and defeating Lameroo themselves, an unlikely scenario, but one they will cling to. Peake almost snatched victory over Karoonda with a 6 goal final term but fell an agonizing 2 points short.
Murrayville fought hard against BDT, but BDT.s overall strength proved too much in the end. Lameroo continued to build will a strong win over bottom placed Pinnaroo.
Lameroo v Peake
Lameroo lost to Peake last time they met on the small Peake ground. Lameroo have Shaun Walker back in top form and Hayden Thorpe playing his usual hard football in the midfield. Brad Zerk is a veteran who plays consistent footy every week and Andrew Purchase adds class & poise through the midfield. Josh Ridgway is playing well in the midfield and Shane Agelis will kick a bag of goals when he is given space to use his blistering pace. Ricky Hunter & Matt Ridgway provide focal points in attack. David Philbey is playing well as a key defender and Lameroo will be keen to see the return of Billy McNeilly & Vaughan Noonan probably in finals.
Peake had their best side on the park last week and just fell short. Jason Dikkenberg is a very good ruckman who gives his midfielders a good look at the ball. Patrick Casey, Salim Hassan, Rick Berling & Lachlan Wilson win a lot of ball in the midfield and Ryan Morris is developing into a very good player on a wing. Gareth Diprose marshals the defence with support from players like Trent Wingard, Sam Patterson, Bennett Pickering & Brent Canaway who do the job without much fuss. In attack they look extremely dangerous with Scott Feltus, Robert Brodhurst, Caine Lynn & Jeff Lines hard to match up on.
Peake have more to gain, but Lameroo can continue their winning form.
Pinnaroo v Murrayville
Pinnaroo will want to finish the season on a high after a season with only 1 win. Wade & Chad Nickolls have been standouts all year along with Tyron Bennetts who is playing well every week. Alex Keough was sorely missed mid-year and has made an impact since he returned. Key forwards Ryan Nickolls & Anthony Lippis have played only 6 matches each in 2012 making it extremely difficult for Pinnaroo to kick winning scores. It is encouraging to see Clint Muster regularly amongst the best players and Heath Boseley can play forward or back.
Murrayville will want to win to ensure finals participation in 2012. Michael Worsman has lead from the front in the midfield and Adam Moller comes with a reputation as a quality player. Trent Sporn & Daniel Fry are potent key forwards while Clayton Sporn has returned in attack & also backs up Todd Jones in ruck. Matt Standley is a strong defender returning to support Nick Noblett, Jesse Vass & Brad Wyatt. Thomas Bailey acquires plenty of possessions and is a good user of the ball.
Murrayville have too much at stake and will leave Pinnaroo with 1 win for 2012.
BDT v Karoonda
The top 2 clash in a match that will be repeated in the Second Semi Final. BDT would be pleased with the return of Josh Keller last week, but Josh Richardson may not return before finals. Patrick Barrett has been outstanding since returning from West Adelaide and Clint Richardson is back to his best on a wing. Ty McKenna & Kevin Kock are strong marking key forwards with Chris Gregory and Lee Slape holding down the key defensive positions.
Karoonda’ s midfield has been good all year with Ben Quinn, Zakk Bullard, Corey Knight & Mark Corrie all having great seasons. Lucas Neumann has stepped up in ruck with Josh Rudiger injured and Nick Zander has made half forward a strong point. The defence is settled with Andrew Smithson & Daniel Thiele in the key positions and Brodie Chinner, Jarred Graetz, Eli Koch & Josh Rosenzweig combining well. Simon Martin & Donald Andrews are clever on their wings and their duels with BDT will have a strong bearing on the match.
BDT look a little more settled and will start favourites at home.
Round 14 - August 4, 2012

Mallee League Preview 4/8/2012
Peake kept their finals hopes alive with a good win over Pinnaroo, but probably still need to win their last 2 matches to push Murrayville out of the four. Murrayville had an opportunity to upset an under strength Karoonda, but fell just short. They need a good performance against BDT this week to keep Peake at bay. Lameroo put in a strong performance against BDT who are still with Josh Keller & Josh Richardson but BDT still found a way to win.
Murrayville v BDT
Murrayville will see this as a winnable game at home if BDT are still without their stars in Josh Keller & Josh Richardson. At the very least they need to be competitive to hold the advantage they have over Peake of 6.5%.
Michael Worsman leads from the front in the midfield with good support from captain Nick Rees. Todd Jones has developed into a strong ruckman who takes marks around the ground. Nick Noblett is a very good rebounding defender as is Jesse Vass while Brad Wyatt uses all of his experience at full back. Trent Sporn & Daniel Fry form a very good attacking option up forward and will trouble most defences.
Patrick Barrett has been brilliant since he returned from West Adelaide to bolster BDT’s midfield. Clint Richardson is having a very good season and Lachlan Richardson always plays well. Chris Gregory is rarely beaten in defence with Lee Slape solid at full back. Ty McKenna & Kevin Kock are marking targets in attack with Brett Todd and Mark Vandeleur elusive small forwards.
Murrayville have some chance but BDT will win.
Pinnaroo v Lameroo
Pinnaroo have struggled to put their best side on the field since Round 1 and it has hurt them all season. Ryan Nickolls has missed most of the season and Anthony Lippis has only just returned to bolster the forward line. Alex Keough has found touch after missing about 6 weeks and Sunyl Vogt has not played since Round 6. Tyron Bennetts has been a standout performer but also missed matches with injury. Chad Nickolls has carried the ruck with Wade Nickolls plugging holes either in attack or defence. Clint Muster has returned and shown his true ability and Leith Dabinett is having a consistent season.
Lameroo are travelling along well and will have key position player Vaughan Noonan back for finals. Dan Wohling is a great inclusion at this time of year and he will give a lot of defenders the run around. Shaun Walker is back to his best and Andrew Purchase will hope to string some games together before the finals. Matt & Josh Ridgway are consistent performers while David Philbey is excelling at full back. Billy McNeiily will be keen to get back on the ground before finals time while Ricky Hunter will kick goals if given the opportunity up forward.
Lameroo will win against Pinnaroo.
Peake v Karoonda
Peake will be up for this match knowing they probably need to win the last 2 matches to play finals. Scott Feltus & Robert Brodhurst are experienced players up forward and know how to kick goals with support from Jeff Lines & Bryce Jaensch. They will be even better if Caine Lynn plays in attack this week. Rick Berling has had his best year playing as a link through the midfield while Lachlan Wilson provides pace off his wing. Salim Hassan is finding form after not playing for a couple of seasons and Trent Wingard is around the best players most weeks. Patrick Casey provides strength & quality in the centre and is rarely beaten.
Karoonda will be without Josh Rudiger until finals and Luke Hocking is still probably a week away from returning. Lucas Neumann has stepped up in ruck and Ryan Paech has shown in the last 2 weeks he can play a key role in attack. Ben Quinn, Corey Knight, Zakk Bullard & Mark Corrie form a strong midfield with support from Stephen Krezos. Nick Zander provides a strong presence at half forward and Shane Harte is creative in attack. Simon Martin and Donald Andrews have a strong influence on the wings with Jarred Graetz & Brodie Chinner attacking half backs. Andrew Smithson, Josh Rosenzweig & Daniel Thiele are all capable of playing a role in key defensive positions.
Peake will be desperate but Karoonda can win.

Mallee League Preview 28/7/2012
The finals make up looks pretty settled 3 matches out with BDT & Karoonda finishing top 2 and Lameroo and Murrayville to play in the First Semi Final. Peake need a miracle after going down to Murrayville last week if they are to play finals in 2012.
Karoonda v Murrayville
Karoonda overcame Lameroo in the second half last week after a tight first half. Luke Hocking will be out with injury & Mark Corrie will likely miss this week. Shane Harte should return in the lead up to finals. Corey Knight is in career best form and Zakk Bullard is not far behind in the midfield. Ben Quinn is creative and Stephen Krezos uses the ball well. Lucas Neumann & Josh Rudiger are a strong ruck combination and Nick Zander uses his strength in attack. The defence is settled with Andrew Smithson, Daniel Thiele, Jarred Graetz & Brodie Chinner combining well.
Murrayville have 2 strong targets in attack with Trent Sporn and Daniel Fry both in the top 3 goal kickers in the League. They receive good supply from Michael Worsman& Nick Rees in the midfield with Todd Jones a mobile ruckman who works hard around the ground. Jesse Vass & Nick Noblett fill key positions in defence and Matt Standley & Bard Wyatt provide plenty of experience.
Karoonda can win what should be a high scoring match.
Lameroo v BDT
Lameroo should welcome back Andrew Purchase this week although Billy McNeilly & Vaughan Noonan will still be missing from key defensive positions. David Philbey & Matt Ridgway a playing well in defence but Lameroo would be keen to use Ridgway in a more attacking role. Shaun Walker has returned to his best after overcoming injury and Hayden Thorpe is in good form in the midfield. Kym Benham is a reliable ruckman who is rarely beaten and Ricky Hunter is an accurate kick if Lameroo can get the ball to him often enough.
BDT are without Josh Keller & Josh Richardson but are still performing very well. Ben Hooper, Lachlan Richardson & Clint Richardson stepped up last week and Chad Kennett is a young player whose consistency will see him become a very good midfielder. Chris Gregory & Lee Slape lead solid defence with Kevin Kock & Ty McKenna marking targets in attack. Jack Zacker & Brett Todd are dangerous around goal with 5 goals each last week.
BDT can win in a close match if Lameroo can put in a 4 quarter effort.
Peake v Pinnaroo
Peake will be low in confidence after last week, but must rebound against Pinnaroo to keep their slim finals hopes alive.
Toby Downs wound the clock back last week with a 4 goal effort after kicking 5 in the Reserves. Peake need a full muster if they are to be successful with Caine Lynn, Scott Feltus. Robert Brodhurst, Trent Wingard, Kieran Jaensch, Bryce Jaensch and Salim Hassan all missing last week. Ryan Morris is a young player showing plenty of promise on a wing & Lachlan Wilson is a speedy player who can carry the ball well. Jason Dikkenberg is a good ruck man and Jeff Lines gives his all every week. Gareth Diprose and Rick Berling have been good all year and will always give an honest performance.
Pinnaroo have been without forwards Ryan Nickolls & Anthony Lippis and the key to this match could be in whether they play this week. Clint Muster is showing he is a quality player with Wade Nickolls still playing good football although in different roles to previous seasons. Alex Keough is a ball winner through the midfield & Tyron Bennetts is probably Pinnaroo’s best player.
If Peake can put close to their best team out they can defeat Pinnaroo.

Preview - 21/7/2012
A better result tipping last week with 2 out of 3. Lameroo put in a strong performance to defeat Murrayville without Vaughan Noonan & Ricky Hunter. Pinnaroo put up a fight against Karoonda with Thomas Keough in outstanding form coming back from West Adelaide for the week. BDT held of Peake in a good effort without Josh Keller & Josh Richardson.
Murrayville v Peake
The loser of this match has an uphill battle to play finals as they are equal on 6 points with Murrayville enjoying a superior percentage.
Murrayville were level with Lameroo with 10 minutes to go last week, but lost by 4 goals in a match that would have given them a slight break in fourth spot. Trent Sporn & Daniel Fry a strong marking targets in attack and also accurate kicks for goal. There is a chance that Drew Crane may return to add more potency to the forward line in coming weeks. Michael Worsman controls the centre and Nick Rees is a damaging player with an attacking left foot kick. Jesse Vass, Brad Wyatt & Nick Noblett form a strong defence and Todd Jones is a mobile ruckman who marks well around the ground.
Peake pushed an under strength BDT last week but could not come away with a win. They are close to full strength with Scott Feltus returning at full forward & Caine Lynn stringing some games together along with Robert Brodhurst. Salim Hassan has played the last couple & Pat Casey appears to have overcome his injury problems. Rick Berling has been outstanding providing a link from defence to attack and Lachlan Wilson provides pace & skill in the midfield.
Murrayville at home will be hard to beat and they should take the advantage in the finals race.
Karoonda v Lameroo
Karoonda overcame a determined Pinnaroo last week and should welcome back Luke Hocking this week. Lameroo were very good against Murrayville and once again finished the match full of run.
Karoonda’s midfield of Ben Quinn, Corey Knight, Zakk Bullard, Mark Corrie & Stephen Krezos has been able to give forwards Josh Rudiger & Nick Zander good supple as well as kicking goals themselves. Simon Martin & Donald Andrews use the ball well on the wings and Lucas Neumann is in good form in ruck. Andrew Smithson is miserly in defence with Daniel Thiele, Jarred Graetz & Brodie Chinner rebounding from half back.
Shaun Walker appears to be back near his best for Lameroo and forms a strong midfield with Andrew Purchase, Hayden Thorpe & Josh Ridgway. Kym Benham does the job in ruck and Matt Ridgway can play anywhere on the field. Shane Agelis is second on the goal kicking list and Thomas Bascombe has shown he will contribute up forward as well. Dan Wohling is a huge inclusion and will make a difference if he plays the rest of the season. Ricky Hunter missed last week and his strength will be welcomed back this week.
Lameroo got home in the dying minutes last time, but Karoonda can win a close match at home.
BDT v Pinnaroo
BDT will be without Josh Keller & Josh Richardson probably for the next few weeks, but Pinnaroo will lose Thomas Keough to West Adelaide this week.
Patrick Barrett bolsters the BDT midfield and Chad Kennett stepped up last week to cover their losses. Michael Kempe is reliable in defence providing good support for Lee Slape & Chris Gregory. Ty McKenna & Kevin Kock are strong marking forward while Mark Vandeleur & Brett Todd are dangerous if given space. Lachlan Richardson, Clint Richardson & Ben Hooper are hardworking midfielders and Hayden Schilling will have a huge job in ruck against Chad Nickolls.
Pinnaroo have a huge task and without Thomas Keough it will be a tough day. Tyron Bennetts & Alex Keough will win their share of the football in the midfield. Chad Nickolls will control the ruck and Wade Nickolls will plug gaps either in defence or attack. Anthony Lippis played in attack last week and will need support from Ryan Nickolls if he returns. Clint Muster adds some spark at half forward and Chris Hughes and Leith Dabinett performed good defensive roles last week.
BDT will be too strong for Pinnaroo.

Mallee League Preview 14/7/2012
My credibility took a hammering last week, tipping 0 from 3. I gave Pinnaroo a chance to push for finals with Peake on the slide. How wrong I was with Pinnaroo crashing at Murrayville and Peake getting back on track with a win over Lameroo. To top it off Karoonda accounted for the previously undefeated BDT.
Lameroo v Murrayville
Lameroo went down to Peake last week in a game they would have expected to win. They take on a pumped up Murrayville who won by over 100 points last week.
Lameroo key position player Vaughan Noonan is on report and if he is suspended it takes away a key player in defence or attack. Coach Shaun Walker is returning to top form and Andrew Purchase continues to impress with silky skills. Jarred Kerber is a young player building a reputation and Stephen Kerley is close to the most reliable player going around. Matt & Josh Ridgway play well and Ricky Hunter has shown he can kick goals if given opportunities.
Murrayville have Trent Sporn & Daniel Fry at the goal front and they kicked 18 goals between them last week. Todd Jones gives the midfield a start with strong ruck work and coach Michael Worsman is creative & strong in the centre. Nick Rees leads from the front and has a penetrating left foot kick and James Lange goes about his work gaining many possessions.
Murrayville can win and go one step closer to playing finals in 2012.
Pinnaroo v Karoonda
Pinnaroo had a shocker last week and will be hoping Karoonda are still coming down from a good win over BDT.
Ryan Nickolls was missed badly in attack last week and Anthony Lippis has not been seen for a long time. Alex Keough has returned to strengthen the midfield and Clint Muster is a classy wingman who would love to string a few games together. Wade Nickolls uses his experience to advantage and Chad Nickolls is a man mountain in ruck. Tyron Bennetts has been a great recruit and Chris Hughes has plenty of pace if given space on a wing.
Karoonda has depth through the midfield at the moment with coach Ben Quinn, Zakk Bullard, Corey Knight & Mark Corrie providing good run. Lucas Neumann & Josh Rudiger are competing well in ruck and Daniel Thiele has found good form in defence. Jarred Graetz, Andrew Smithson & Brodie Chinner all provide rebound from defence while Luke Hocking & Shane Harte should return this week to add to the attack.
Karoonda will win at Pinnaroo this week.
Peake v BDT
Peake had a character building win last week over Lameroo but come up against a BDT side smarting from their first loss this year.
Rick Berling has been a standout player for Peake this year while Travis Carling makes a big difference to the midfield when he plays. Patrick Casey is a quality play and Salim Hassan has League experience on his side. Caine Lynn will finish off in attack with support from Jeff Lines and Trent Wingard. Gareth Diprose, Sam Patterson & Bennett Pickering are strong defenders who will always give a contest.
BDT had some injury concerns to key players after last week’s match with Josh Keller, Josh Richardson, Mark Vandeleur & Jarred Brock all in doubt. If the 2 Josh’s don’t play it will give Peake a big lift although Patrick Barrett & Chris Gregory are a couple of handy replacements. Lachlan & Clint Richardson are hard workers and Ben Hooper provides run and can also play in attack. Ty McKenna & Kevin Kock are strong marking forwards and Lee Slape is not often beaten at full back.
BDT will return to the winners list over Peake.

Mallee League Preview 7/7/2012
Peake v Lameroo
Peake need to win one of these matches if they want to play finals. Patrick Casey has struggled with a groin injury & hopefully the week off will see him back in form. Lachlan Wilson is a quick, creative player who can spark the side. Kieran Jaensch has similar style, but needs to perform every week. Robert Brodhurst is an experienced player who is valuable in attack if the ball gets to him. Gareth Diprose has led the defence for a long time and Rick Berling has been the most consistent performer in 2012.
Lameroo have a very resilient outfit and have made a habit of coming from behind to win matches this season. The return of Vaughan Noonan this week gives them more flexibility as he can play at half back or half forward. Shaun Walker is improving each week & Ricky Hunter is showing his skills up forward. Andrew Purchase is a clever midfielder who gets support from Hayden Thorpe & Craig Wellburn.
Lameroo look too settled and will win against Peake.
Murrayville v Pinnaroo
If Murrayville win they have a good chance of playing finals, If Pinnaroo win they draw level on points with Murrayville & Peake and also have a chance of playing finals.
Daniel Fry & Trent Sporn give the attack some bite for Murrayville and Michael Worsman is one of the best midfielders in the League. Todd Jones rucks well with Nick Rees & Thomas Bailey prominent through the midfield. Nick Noblett is strong at full back and Brad Wyatt has plenty of experience to support the hard running of Jesse Vass.
Pinnaroo must surely have Anthony Lippis back to form a two pronged attack with Ryan Nickolls. Chad Nickolls has carried the ruck and wade Nickolls still can influence a game at either end of the ground. Clint Muster is an important player who needs consistency and Alex Keough will always win plenty of the ball through the midfield & in attack.
Pinnaroo can throw the last spot in the finals wide open with a win at Murrayville.
Karoonda v BDT
Karoonda were put in their place by BDT in Round 1 and will need to put up a stronger performance to get anywhere near BDT this week. Ben Quinn, Corey Knight & Zakk Bullard have been in great touch through the midfield with Lucas Neumann & Josh Rudiger setting up play in ruck. Luke Hocking & Nick Zander are strong marks in attack with Stephen Krezos a creative small forward. Daniel Thiele looks at home in defence with Andrew Smithson solid at full back. Jarred Graetz & Brodie Chinner can set up play from half back with Shaun Harte capable at either end of the ground.
BDT welcome back Ty McKenna & Kevin Kock this week to fill key roles in attack. Shane Binns is a match winner at full forward with Jarred Brock picking up any crumbs. The midfield is outstanding with Josh Keller, Josh Richardson, Jarran Crabb, Ben Hooper, Clint Richardson & Lachlan Richardson all capable of turning matches. Hayden Schilling gives them a strong leaping ruckman with Lee Slape & Chris Gregory strong in defence.
Karoonda should improve on Round 1 but BDT will still win.
RETROSPECTIVE MAIL MEDAL – LEN SYMONDS
Len Symonds & MFL President Leighton Huxtable
The Mallee Football League presented a retrospective Mail Medal to Len Symonds on Saturday June 23rd at Karoonda.
The date was chosen as Karoonda played Peake who are the 2 remaining Murraylands teams playing in the Mallee League.
Retrospective Mail Medals were originally presented to those who tied but lost on a count back in 1999. The records provided did not show the correct results in 1966. The Mallee League were alerted to the situation by historian Harold McLaren who came across the results in the Pinnaroo Border Times from 1966.
Len (playing for Perponda) lost on a count back to Trevor Kruger (Peake) with both tied on 15 votes.
This Medal brings Len’s tally to 6 Mail Medals – 4 with Perponda in 1966, 1970, 1971 & 1974 and 2 with Browns Well in the Riverland Independent League in 1976 & 1978.

Round 9 Preview 23/6/2012
BDT v Murrayville (Coonalpyn)
BDT are cruising through the season without really being tested so far. Key forwards Ty McKenna & Kevin Kock are missing at the moment, but Shane Binns has stepped up and Hayden Schilling is becoming a very good ruck man. Patrick Barrett back from West Adelaide at the moment adds another quality midfielder to go with Josh Keller, Josh Richardson & Clint Richardson. Jarran Crabb & Jarred Brock work well with the midfield and the defence is held firm by Chris Gregory & Lee Slape.
Murrayville will be keen to do well as percentage may play a role at the end of the season. Michael Worsman is a class midfielder and Daniel Fry is kicking goals, taking some pressure off of Trent Sporn in attack. Todd Jones plays the ruck role well, picking up possessions behind the play. Nick Rees has a penetrating left foot kick from the midfield & Jesse Vass provided strong rebound from half back last week. Nick Noblett is a good full back and organizes the defence well around him.
BDT will continue their winning ways this week.
Lameroo v Pinnaroo
Lameroo will be hoping Billy McNeilly has recovered to play in a key defensive role with Vaughan Noonan still missing at the moment. Matt Ridgway is a versatile player and Kym Benham rucks well even though giving away height most weeks. David Philbey plays key defense and holds down a position most weeks. Andrew Purchase & Shaun Walker are quality midfielders and receive assistance from Ricky Hunter, Hayden Thorpe, Stephen Kerley & Brad Zerk.
Pinnaroo won their first match last week after 22 losses and they can win some more before the years end. Thomas Keogh was a big bonus last week with West Adelaide having the bye. The return of Ryan Nickolls, Tyron Bennetts, Alex Keough made a huge difference and full forward Anthony Lippis can’t be far away from resuming. Chris Hughes is a good fast running recruit and Chad Nickolls continues to dominate in ruck.
Lameroo should win over an improving Pinnaroo.
Karoonda v Peake
Karoonda travelled to Murrayville last week and came away with a good win. Luke Hocking & Brodie Chinner should resume this week although Mark Corrie is likely to miss. Jarred Graetz is in outstanding form in defence and Andrew Smithson is doing a job at full back each week. Ben Quinn is leading the midfield with Corey Knight, Zakk Bullard, Donald Andrews & Simon Martin all playing significant roles. Lucas Neumann has stepped up supporting Josh Rudiger in ruck while Ryan Paech & Nick Zander provide targets in attack.
Peake are in danger of missing the finals again and need to win soon to get back in the frame. Patrick Casey is a quality player but is struggling with injury. Rick Berling has been in the best most weeks along with Bryce Jaensch & Sam Patterson but they are all defenders. Scott Feltus provided a goal kicking option early but has missed a lot of matches while Jeff Lines has been a productive forward. Travis Carling is a smooth mover in the midfield and Lachlan Wilson & Kieran Jaensch have plenty of talent.
It is hard to see Karoonda dropping this one at home.
Round 8 - June 16, 2012

Mallee League Preview 16/6/2012
Murrayville v Karoonda
Murrayville have an opportunity to consolidate a spot in the finals if they can overcome Karoonda at home. Trent Sporn has given them a focal point in attack and Daniel Fry has been kicking plenty of goals in recent matches. Coach Michael Worsman is one of the best midfielders in the League with assistance from Nick Rees, Thomas Bailey & James Lange. Todd Jones & Nick Noblett are solid defenders and Jesse Vass provides good rebound.
Karoonda had Lameroo under control last match only to be over run in the same manner as Murrayville the week before. Ben Quinn & Zakk Bullard rack up possessions in the midfield and Corey Knight can be dangerous when going forward. Mark Corrie will improve with match fitness and Josh Rudiger can have a big influence in ruck. Daniel Thiele showed glimpses of his best last match and can take a big mark. Andrew Smithson leads a solid defence with Jarred Graetz in outstanding form.
Karoonda can win a close encounter at Murrayville.
BDT v Lameroo
BDT are a very even outfit topped off with 2 of the best in Josh Keller & Josh Richardson. Patrick Barrett has been back recently and adds more quality to the midfield along with Lachlan Richardson, Clint Richardson, Chad Kennett, Jack Zacker, Jarran Crabb, Jarred Brock and the list goes on. Ty McKenna & Kevin Kock will be missing this week, but Hayden Schilling has stepped up to carry the ruck work and Chris Gregory will hold down a key position. Lee Slape is dependable at full back while Travis Miegel is always reliable.
Lameroo have come from a long way down to win their last 2 matches but won’t be able to let BDT get ahead if they want to compete. Matt Ridgway is in good form and Andrew Purchase is a quality finisher. Vaughan Noonan will be missing for a few weeks and his strength in a key position will be missed as will Billy McNeilly in defence if he does not recover from an ankle injury. Hayden Thorpe, Brad Zerk, Stephen Kerley, Shaun Walker, Craig Wellburn & Josh Ridgway all put in 100% every week and Ricky Hunter has shown he can make a big contribution to the side.
BDT will win comfortably against Lameroo
Pinnaroo v Peake
Pinnaroo will be desperate for a win and should see the return of key players this week. Ryan Nickolls & Anthony Lippis should return in attack along with Alex Keogh in the midfield. Chad Nickolls has been dominating in ruck and Wade Nickolls still has an influence on the game. Brad Schroeder gains many possessions on a wing and if Leith Dabinett, Clint Muster, Scott Kirkbright & Joel Heinicke can all play well on the same day then Pinnaroo are in with a chance.
Peake need to win this week if they want to play finals. They had arguably their best team on the field against Murrayville & lost convincingly. Scott Feltus, Caine Lynn, Garth Bigg & Jeff Lines are a strong attack. Gareth Diprose, Rick Berling, Bryce Jaensch, Sam Patterson & Bennett Pickering form a solid defence. Jason Dikkenberg wins his fair share of the ruck and Lachlan Wilson, Kieran Jaensch, Blake Harrowfield & Patrick Casey are a quick midfield.
Peake should win a game that could shape their season.
Mallee League Preview 9/6/2012
Interleague Mallee v Mid South East
Mallee take on Mid South East at Pinnaroo after travelling to Robe in2011. Mallee will be keen to turn around last year’s result after going down the MSE in their first encounter.
BDT will dominate the team with Josh Keller in good form and looking to add to his best player performance from 2011. Josh Richardson is available after missing last year and will join brothers Clint & Lachlan in the team. Chris Gregory can play a key position as can Kevin Kock up forward. Ben Hooper is a versatile player and Patrick Barrett will be a huge bonus if he is available. Jarran Crabb and Chad Kennett are younger players who will keen to impress if given the opportunity.
Zakk Bullard has been in great form for Karoonda on ball with Jarred Graetz strong marking in defence. Ben Quinn and Corey Knight are clever midfielders who both like to go forward & kick goals. Josh Rudiger has been using his strength well in ruck and may get a chance at the higher level.
Billy McNeilly has returned to Lameroo’s defence and slipped straight into top form with Matt Ridgway similar to ben Hooper with his versatility. Andrew Purchase can provide some smart finishing in the midfield.
Michael Worsman has been Murrayville’s best player this year and could play centre in this match. Todd Jones can play defence or ruck and Nick Noblett is a solid defender. Daniel Fry has been kicking multiple goals and Nick Rees has also been in good form.
Patrick Casey would be an automatic selection after a standout performance last year, but may struggle with injury. Lachlan Wilson is another youngster who will provide pace if given the chance.
Ryan Nickolls will play a key forward role if he can prove his fitness & Chad Nickolls has been in strong form rucking for Pinnaroo this year. Tyron Bennetts has battled against the odds in Pinnaroo’s midfield and will provide some toughness if he plays.
The Mallee League at home have a chance to square the ledger with a win over MSE
Round 7 - June 2, 2012

Mallee League Preview 2/6/2012
Peake v Murrayville
A vital game for the chance to participate in the 2012 finals series for both sides. After a good start to the season Peake have faltered of late and need to win against a Murrayville side building momentum. Peake were demolished by BDT last week and were always going to be in trouble with 9 players missing from the A Grade side. Patrick Casey is desperately missed in the midfield and Scott Feltus was a strong target at full forward. Not surprisingly the best players were in defence last week with Rick Berling standing up again with support from Bryce Jaensch, Sam Patterson, Bennett Pickering & Tom Carter. There are some good running midfielders in Lachlan Wilson, Chad Freak & Kieran Jaensch if they can get enough of the ball.
Murrayville are improving and held a good lead over Lameroo last week before being over run in the last quarter. Daniel Fry has stepped up in attack and the return of Trent Sporn poses a threat to all other defences. Michael Worsman is a strong bodied midfielder and Todd Jones provides versatility in ruck or a key position. Jesse Vass found form last week and Ryan McCormack is a consistent performer.
Murrayville look more settled and unless Peake can regroup quickly Murrayville will draw level with them on the Premiership Table.
Lameroo v Karoonda
A battle for the double chance looms with Lameroo pushing hard and only 1 win behind Karoonda. The return of Vaughan Noonan has added strength and experience and Shaun Walkers presence on the ground is an added advantage. Billy McNeilly returned last week to strengthen the defence and supporting the hard working David Philbey. Hayden Thorpe is an inside midfielder and Andrew Purchase provides some polish with his finishing skills. Matt Ridgway can play almost any position on the ground and Jarred Kerber is a youngster with a bright future. Shane Agelis & Ricky Hunter provide options in attack and Josh Ridgway is always dangerous around goal.
Karoonda won last week but it took a long time to shake off Pinnaroo. Luke Hocking will be a loss in attack through injury and Nick Zander & Daniel Thiele will need to step up to cover his absence. Zakk Bullard is in outstanding form along with coach Ben Quinn. Corey Knight has great skills and is equally dangerous on ball or in attack. Mark Corrie provided a strong body in the midfield last week but his availability is not guaranteed. Jarred Graetz continues to excel in defence along with Eli Koch & Andrew Smithson.
In an extremely tight match Karoonda can win at Lameroo
Pinnaroo v BDT
It doesn’t get any easier for Pinnaroo this week against a rampaging BDT. Thomas Keogh was a great inclusion last week, but will be back at West Adelaide this week. They have a list of players missing with Ryan Nickolls, Anthony Lippis, Braden Thomas, Alex Keogh, Jason Marr & Scott Kirkbright all missing last week. Sunyl Vogt injured a knee last week and must be in doubt for some time. Heath Nickolls is holding down a key defensive position along with Wade Nickolls. Chad Nickolls wins most ruck contests and Tyron Bennetts is a quality player in the midfield. Chris Hughes provides dash from his wing with Brad Schroeder back to his best form on the other wing.
BDT have quality all over the ground and even out of the side. Josh Keller & Josh Richardson stand up every week. Hayden Schilling in ruck allows Ty McKenna & Kevin Kock to play forward and Mark Vandeleur slips forward and provides pace around goal. Chris Gregory & Lee Slape lead a mean defence with Clint Richardson & Ben Hooper experienced players on the wings. Jarran Crabb, Jarred Brock, Chad Kennett & Jack Zacker all play there part and form a formidable combination.
BDT will remain undefeated and Pinnaroo winless after this match.
Round 6 - May 26, 2012
Best: Lameroo - Vaughan Noonan, Haydon Thorpe, Billy McNeilly, David Philbey, Jarrod Kerber. Murrayville : Daniel Fry, Ryan McCormick, Michael Worsman, Jesse Vass, Trent Sporn, Todd Jones. Goals: Lameroo - Stephen Kerley 2, Haydon Thorpe 2, Joshua Ridgway 2, David Philbey 2, Matthew Ridgway 1, Ricky Hunter 1, Jarrod Kerber 1, Shaun Walker 1. Murrayville : Daniel Fry 7, Trent Sporn 2, Allyd Kinnersley 1, Bradley Wyatt 1, Michael Worsman 1
Best: Karoonda - Corey Knight, Ben Quinn, Zakk Bullard, Mark Corrie, Jarred Graetz, Lucas Neumann. Pinnaroo : Thomas Keough, Heath Nickolls, Christopher Hughes, Tyron Bennetts, Bradley Schroeder, Chad Nickolls. Goals: Karoonda - Corey Knight 5, Zakk Bullard 2, Nicholas Norman 2, Nick Zander 2, Luke Hocking 1, Ryan Paech 1, Mark Corrie 1, Lucas Neumann 1. Best: BDT - Jarran Crabb, Patrick Barrett, Lachlan Richardson, Clint Richardson, Chad Kennett, Lee Slape. Peake : Bryce Jaensch, Rick Berling, Sam Paterson, Bennett Pickering, Tom Carter. Goals: Bdt - Ty Mckenna 5, Patrick Barrett 5, Kevin Kock 4, Brett Todd 3, Lee Slape 3, Aaron Richards 2, Mark Vandeleur 2, Joshua Keller 2, Josh Richardson 1, Lachlan Richardson 1, Benjamin Tucker 1, Jarrad Brock 1. Peake : Robert Rich 2, Greg Honner 1, Ryan Morris 1, Kieran Jaensch 1
Murrayville v Lameroo
Murrayville opened their winning account for 2012 with a good win over Pinnaroo last week.
The return of Trent Sporn in attack made a huge difference with a return of 9 goals to take advantage of the work done by the midfield. Daniel Fry is also making a mark up forward and Todd Jones can play in ruck or a key position. Michael Worsman is leading from the front and receiving good support from Nick Rees. Nick Noblett has been consistent in defence, being amongst the best most weeks.
Lameroo had a very strong win over Peake last week and the return of Vaughan Noonan adds strength and experience. Shane Agelis is making the most of every opportunity up forward and Ricky Hunter found form last week with 5 goals. Matt Ridgway continued his strong form with brother Josh playing his best game of 2012. Coach Shaun Walker continues to find touch after missing the early rounds and Andrew Purchase will strengthen the midfield when he returns.
This looks a far closer match up than it would have been a couple of weeks ago, but Lameroo can consolidate their spot in the four with a win.
Karoonda v Pinnaroo
Karoonda and Pinnaroo would be extremely disappointed with last week’s results. Karoonda went down badly to BDT and a depleted Pinnaroo fell a long way short of Murrayville.
Karoonda have Jarred Graetz in outstanding form across half back with good support from Stephen Krezos, Andrew Smithson & Eli Koch. Zakk Bullard is carrying the midfield with Corey Knight having dropped off slightly after his great start to the season. Shane Harte & Brodie Chinner are overcoming injury & Ben Quinn wins plenty of ball. Josh Rudiger is carrying the ruck with Luke Hocking, Daniel Thiele & Nick Zander strong marking forward targets.
Kane O’Loughlin stood up with 7 goals for Pinnaroo last week, but Ryan Nickolls & Anthony Lippis are no certainties to return this week. Chad Nickolls is carrying the ruck well and should have a great duel with Josh Rudiger. Tyron Bennetts is a good recruit and Brad Schroeder is returning to his strong running, rebounding play. Sunyl Vogt’s experience is crucial after returning from a hamstring injury and Braden Thomas is strong at full back.
Karoonda look to have too many options and will be too strong for Pinnaroo.
BDT v Peake (Coonalpyn)
BDT put on a display last week to prove they are again short priced favourites for the flag. Josh Richardson, Josh Keller, Clint Richardson, Ben Hooper & Lachlan Richardson all stood up and put the game beyond doubt very early. Hayden Schilling is playing well in ruck and allowing Ty McKenna and Kevin Kock to provide marking options in attack alongside Shane Binns. Lee Slape is reliable at full back and Chris Gregory gets the job done at centre half back. The experienced players bring others like Jarred Brock, Jarran Crabb, Jack Zacker & Chad Kennett into the game and they provide valuable contributions.
Peake missed Pat Casey, Garth Bigg & Scott Feltus last week and need to regroup quickly against a strong BDT outfit. Rick Berling, Gareth Diprose, Bennett Pickering & Sam Patterson a playing well in defence with Chad Freak & Lachlan Wilson providing run from the wings. Jeff Lines is a regular contributor in attack and Kieran Jaensch will kick goals if given space.
BDT look too strong and will continue their unbeaten run.

Mallee League Preview 19/5/2012
Lameroo v Peake
The winner of this match will head into the Second Round of MFL with a much better chance of playing finals in 2012. The loser could find themselves in a battle with Pinnaroo or Murrayville for the last spot in the finals.
Lameroo recorded a comfortable win over Pinnaroo last week although the task was made more difficult with inaccurate kicking for goal. Coach Shaun Walker has returned to the playing field and each week will see him return to the quality player he is within the League. Shane Agelis is a creative forward and does not need many opportunities to make an impact on the scoreboard and Craig Altus has made the transition from defence to attack a productive one. Matt Ridgway is a versatile player and Stephen Kerley leads well with consistent performances. Kym Benham’s return to ruck gives Lameroo a reliable performer and Andrew Purchase uses the ball well to give his forwards many chances.
Peake were also guilty of wayward kicking last week and it may have cost them the match in the end. Gareth Diprose, Rick Berling & Bennett Pickering are strong & reliable in defence with Scott Feltus & Jeff Lines marking targets in attack. Lachlan Wilson & Chad Freak give a lot of run from the wings and Patrick Casey is as good as anyone in the Mallee through the midfield. Salim Hassan will be a valuable recruit when he gains some match fitness and his experience & strength will test a lot of teams.
Peake can win and put themselves up as finals contenders after a long time out.
Pinnaroo v Murrayville
Both teams are without a win and the loser of this match will find it almost impossible to play finals in 2012. Pinnaroo led Lameroo for 3 quarters last week before being overrun in the final term. Tyron Bennetts is proving his worth in the midfield with Heath Boseley performing consistently in defence. Scott Kirkbright is providing an option in attack, but they need Ryan Nickolls & Anthony Lippis back in the key positions. Kane O’Loughlin makes a valuable contribution when his mind is on the job and Clint Muster is a very good player who has missed a lot of football with injuries.
Murrayville have a solid defence with Nick Noblett leading the way and a good midfield with Michael Worsman, James Lange, Blake Edwards, Thomas Bailey & Nick Rees. They need to find a strong marking forward to finish off the good work of players up field if they want to make an impression on the Premiership Table.
Pinnaroo will open their account with their first win of 2012.
BDT v Karoonda (Tintinara)
A clash between the 2 undefeated sides so far should see a very good game of football. Josh Keller & Josh Richardson have started 2012 in great form and Ben Hooper has returned to his form of a couple of seasons back. Jarran Crabb is good in the midfield with Jarred Brock & Clint Richardson providing strong support. Hayden Schilling is playing well along with fellow big men Ty McKenna & Chris Gregory.
Veteran Luke Hocking is leading the 2012 goal kicking with a renewed enthusiasm in this season. He is receiving strong support in attack from Daniel Thiele and Nick Zander. Josh Rudiger is controlling the ruck and marking strongly around the ground. The defence is led by Jarred Graetz with Eli Koch, Andrew Smithson & Lucas Neumann all playing key roles.
Zakk Bullard is in career best form along with Ben Quinn, Stephen Krezos & Corey Knight in the midfield. Both teams score well and it may come down to who can defend the best.
BDT have a slight edge and can win what should be a great contest.
Round 4 - May 12, 2012
Best: BDT - Josh Richardson, Benjamin Hooper, Jarran Crabb, Joshua Keller, Jarrad Brock, Hayden Schilling. Murrayville : Michael Worsman, Todd Jones, Blake Edwards, Thomas Bailey, Nicholas Noblett, Nicholas Rees. Goals: BDT - Benjamin Hooper 3, Josh Richardson 3, Brett Todd 2, Aaron Richards 1, Joshua Keller 1, Jack Zacker 1, Chad Kennett 1, Mark Vandeleur 1, Jarrad Brock 1. Murrayville : Daniel Fry 3, Dallas Willersdorf 2, James Lange 1

Mallee League Preview 12/5/2012
Murrayville v BDT
Murrayville showed promising signs last week with plenty of run through the midfield but could not find a forward to convert into scoring opportunities. Coach Michael Worsman led from the front with a strong display in the midfield & Todd Jones could be an answer in ruck and is mobile around the ground. Nick Noblett is a solid defender and Jesse Vass can defend as well as attack from half back. Thomas Bailey & Nick Rees are good recruits and James Lange finds the ball in the midfield. The experience of Trent Sporn, Brad Wyatt & Luke Kirkbright was missing last week and they will make a difference when they return.
Once again BDT are cruising and doing enough to win matches early in the season. Josh Keller & Josh Richardson are working into strong form and Ben Hooper is a hard running forward after spending a lot of time in defence. Chad Kennett & Mark Vandeleur are consistent playmakers and Ty McKenna is amongst the best ruckmen in the League.
BDT will leave Murrayville winless after 4 rounds.
Pinnaroo v Lameroo
If Pinnaroo want to play finals they need to win a match very soon. They started the season with a lot of confidence, but form & injuries sees them without a win after 3 rounds. They played last week without Wade Nickolls, Ryan Nickolls, Sunyl Vogt & Alex Keogh and not many teams in Mallee Football could cover the loss of key players like these. Chad Nickolls continues to use his height & bulk to dominate in ruck & Tyron Bennett is a very good midfielder. Heath Boseley & Brad Schroeder work hard in defence and Brad Rosenzweig has provided some quick running.
Lameroo need to win to put a gap between them & the teams outside the four. Andrew Purchase is a smart midfielder while Shane Agelis & Ricky Hunter are goal kickers up forward. Stephen Kerley, Brad Zerk, Craig Wellburn, Joel Lewis, Lachlan Hinds & Matt Ridgway are all strong contributors every week while David Philbey carries the load in the big man department.
Lameroo can win and make Pinnaroo’s finals chances even harder.
Peake v Karoonda
Peake are up and about and will be keen to knock off Karoonda this week. Kieran & Bryce Jaensch are playing consistent football and the forward line is functioning well with Scott Feltus, Jeff Lines and now Garth Bigg & Trent Wingard kicking goals. Rick Berling is receiving support in defence from Sam Patterson and Gareth Diprose and Jason Dikkenberg is providing a start in ruck.
Karoonda can put a gap between them & Peake for second spot with a win this week. Coach Ben Quinn is in great touch and Corey Knight’s skills seem to be even better. Zakk Bullard, Brodie Chinner, Shane Harte & Stephen Krezos form a strong midfield with Andrew Smithson, Eli Koch & Jarred Graetz leading the defence. Luke Hocking is leading the goal kicking with Daniel Thiele & Nick Zander strong marking targets in attack. Josh Rudiger is leading the ruck for Karoonda & if he can continue his good form it will give them a big advantage.
This should be the match of the round with Karoonda winning a close one.
Round 3 - May 5, 2012
Best: Karoonda - Joshua Rudiger, Ben Quinn, Zakk Bullard, Jarred Graetz, Corey Knight, Andrew Smithson. Murrayville : Michael Worsman, Todd Jones, Nicholas Noblett, Jesse Vass, Thomas Bailey, Nicholas Rees. Goals: Karoonda - Luke Hocking 6, Corey Knight 4, Daniel Thiele 3, Ryan Paech 2, Ben Quinn 1, Brodie Chinner 1, Nick Zander 1. Murrayville : Daniel Fry 2, Nicholas Noblett 1, Dmitri Milde 1, Nicholas Rees 1, Blake Edwards 1
Best: Peake - Kieran Jaensch, Sam Paterson, Bryce Jaensch, Rick Berling, Trent Wingard, Gareth Diprose. Pinnaroo : Chad Nickolls, Bradley Schroeder, Brad Rosenzweig, Heath Boseley, Tyron Bennetts, Jason Marr. Goals: Peake - Garth Bigg 4, Jeffrey Lines 3, Scott Feltus 3, Cameron Jacob 3, Trent Wingard 3, Chad Freak 1, Ryan Morris 1, Kieran Jaensch 1. Pinnaroo : Wayne Priest 3, Jeremy Schutz 2, Leith Dabinett 2, Jason Marr 1, Tyron Bennetts 1, Kane O'Loughlin 1
Best: BDT - J. Keller, B. Hooper, J. Richardson, C. Kennett, A. Richards, M. Vandeleur. Lameroo - D. Philbey, J. Lewis, S. Kerley, C. Wellburn, S. Agelis. Goals: BDT - M. Vandeleur 4, A. Richards 3, B. Hooper 3, J. Zacker 2, B. Tucker , J. Richardson , B. Kennett. Lameroo - S. Agelis 2, R. Hunter 2, T. Bell , M. Caulfield , A. Purchase
Mallee League Preview 5/5/2012
Karoonda v Murrayville
Karoonda set up a good win over Lameroo last week with a dominant midfield which gave theirs forwards plenty of opportunity. Josh Rudiger & Lucas Neumann were strong in the ruck contests giving Ben Quinn, Corey Knights, Brodie Chinner, Shane Harte, Stephen Krezos & Zakk Bullard first use at most centre bounce contests. Luke Hocking is using his experience and kicking goals up forward with younger players Daniel Thiele & Nick Zander also strong in the air. Jarred Graetz rebounds well from defence with Eli Koch & Andrew Smithson strong “one on one” defenders.
Murrayville let Peake get on top in the first quarter last week & could not bridge the gap. Nick Noblett has settled well into the defence and Michael Worsman is showing his class after an interrupted 2011 season. Recruits Chris Campbell, Nick Rees & Thomas Bailey are making valuable contributions and William Spargo is a hard worker. Jesse Vass provides some run and Dallas Willersdorf is dangerous around goals.
Karoonda at home will be hard to beat for a Murrayville side looking for their first win of 2012.
Lameroo v BDT
Lameroo managed to put a good score on the board against Karoonda last week, but could not contain Karoonda & it may be a similar result this week. Andrew Purchase is all class and as with all good players makes time for himself & uses the ball extremely well. Ricky Hunter has a strong presence and is a very accurate kick for goal. Veteran Brad Zerk is the most reliable player in the competition and still takes on the tough jobs every week. Matt Ridgway is a strong marking forward who makes a good contribution through the midfield and brother Josh gains many possessions as an on ball player.
BDT roll along again and easily accounted for Pinnaroo last week. Hayden Schilling & Chris Gregory are good in ruck & will give BDT a head start. Josh Keller, Josh Richardson, Clint Richardson, Lachlan Richardson are quality in the midfield and the return of Patrick Barrett adds another top class player. Kevin Kock & Shane Binns hold down the key forward positions with Lee Slape leading a solid defence.
Lameroo have improvement in them, but BDT will win this one.
Peake v Pinnaroo
Peake have an opportunity to put themselves in the finals frame early in the season if they can back up their good win last week. Scott Feltus is in dominating form up forward with 17 goals from the first 2 matches. Jason Dikkenberg is leading the ruck well and Patrick Casey is amongst the best midfielders in the competition. Lachlan Wilson is one of the best young players around while Jeff Lines & Kieran Jaensch are goal kickers each week. Rick Berling is a strong defender and Trent Wingard is settling in well.
Pinnaroo would be disappointed with their start to the season. The loss of Sunyl Vogt & Alex Keogh through injury has further compounded their problems. Chad Nickolls gives Pinnaroo an advantage in ruck and Ryan Nickolls is in good form up forward. Tyron Bennetts is a very good recruit in the midfield and Brad Schroeder provides rebound from defence. Clint Muster, Leith Dabinett & Scott Kirkbright all have plenty of ability and need to provide consistent performances. Wade Nickolls & Heath Boseley work hard every week and Rory O’Driscoll is a junior with a bright future.
If Peake can handle the height of Pinnaroo they can win at home to consolidate a place in the top four.

Mallee League Preview 21/4/2012
Lameroo v Murrayville
Lameroo & Murrayville are playing in the designated ANZAC match for the Geoff Blacket Medal in the opening round of Mallee football.
Lameroo will be without Thomas Caulfield, Ben Moffatt & Dan Wohling while coach Shaun Walker & Mark Benham will be sidelined for much of the season with long term injuries.
Andrew Purchase has been recruited as a skillful midfielder who will kick goals with Ricky Hunter capable of filling a key forward role.
Stephen Kerley had his best season at Lameroo last year along with Matt & Josh Ridgway, Hayden Thorpe is a ball winner and David Philbey & Vaughan Noonan will fill the rucking role.
Murrayville have a long list of players missing from 2011 with Jarred Allen, Kevin Wyatt, Rian Crane, Alex Greenslade, Andrew Caire & Chad Allen all moving on and Drew Crane taking up umpiring in 2012. They have recruited Daniel Fry, Nicholas Rees, Thomas Bailey, Chris Campbell, Nicholas Noblett & Todd Jones and it will be interesting to see if they can replace the high quality of players that have left.
Trent Sporn probably will not play every match and this will add pressure to Murrayville. They have traditionally recruited well and they will need a team effort to cover the outstanding talent that has moved on from 2012.
Lameroo look more stable at the moment and should record a first up win.
Pinnaroo v Karoonda
Pinnaroo have a new coach in Ben McPhee & he has been recruiting over summer bringing Chris Hughes, Anthony Karner, Anthony Lippis, Jason Marr, Tyron Bennetts, James Dewing and Brad Rosenzweig to the club. Ryan Nickolls will hold down half forward while Chad Nickolls, Wade Nickolls & Sunyl Vogt have a huge amount of experience. Alex Keogh will again be a key in the midfield.
Pinnaroo are coming from a long way back, but with some new recruits and junior players with some more experience will be looking for a vast improvement on 2011.
Karoonda have a big turnover under new playing coach Ben Quinn with Daniel Thiele, Jarred Graetz, Andrew Smithson, Donald Andrews & Nick Norman all returning to the club along with Shane Harte from Mannum. Major losses from 2011 include Dylan Caldwell, Darren Hare, Justin Jackson, Sam Abbott, Tim Berling & Rhys Bullard.
Mail Medalist Corey Knight will look to continue his good 2011 form with Brodie Chinner, Stephen Krezos & Zakk Bullard providing drive from the midfield. Josh Rudiger will be keen to have an injury free run to carry the ruck for Karoonda.
Karoonda can win in a much closer match than some we saw in 2011.
Peake v BDT
Peake face a tough game first up without Caine Lynn, Jay Gilbertson, Shaun O’Brien, Aaron Hand, Shaun Holland, Aaron Frith, Chad Freak, Josh Lewis-Burns, Aaron Richards from 2011. Brendan Pett may also be missing with a long term injury. Recruits for 2012 at the moment are Greg Honner, Tim Berling, Garth Bigg, Jason Dikkenberg, Brent Canaway, Michael Lawrence with outstanding junior Lachlan Wilson returning to the club.
Peake were agonisingly close to finals in 2011, but appear to have slipped back this year. It may be that too much is left to too few if they cannot replace some of the talent that has left in the off season.
BDT as usual are fairly stable, losing Michael Brighton while Jarred Sampson is overseas & Kevin Kock may not return for 2012. Recruits include Aaron Richards, William Verco & Justin Hurrell with Braden Kennett also returning.
BDT will again start flag favourites and have been very consistent over a number of years. Josh Keller, Josh, Clint & Lachlan Richardson are all class. Ben Hooper always plays well and Shane Binns can be a match winner in attack. Chris Gregory & Lee Slape aren’t high profile, but always get the job done.
BDT will start 2012 with a win over Peake.
BDT CROWS TOO GOOD WHEN IT COUNTS
