CRYSTAL BROOK FINALLY BEATEN
It took 14 rounds, but finally a team has managed to put an end to the winning run of Crystal Brook. The team to do it was bottom placed BMW, who led from start to finish to take a 33 point victory at Booleroo Centre. Kendrick McCallum and Damien Smith were best with Jordan Arthur kicking five goals and Andrew Milne four. For the Brookies, Shane and Cameron Arbon were best. The win was BMW’s fourth for the season, but they still remain bottom of the ladder with two rounds left.
Southern Flinders have all but sown up second spot, thanks to a comprehensive 63 point win over Broughton Mundoora. Inaccuracy from the Tigers kept the Eagles in it in the first half, but the third term decided the issue when the visitors added 6.6 to 2.1 to lead by 43 points with a quarter to go. Matthew Woolford and Ben Brown were best for the Tigers, who had 11 different goalkickers. For Broughton Mundoora, Lee O’Dononhue was best with Mark Horner kicking four goals (45 for 2008) and Matthew Gale three (60 for 2008)
At Orroroo, Jamestown/Peterborough led all day to upset the homeside by 10 points. For the Magpies, who snared their fourth win of the year, Nick McInerney and Chris Stacey were best, while for Orroroo, Brodie O’Dea and Tim Byerlee played well with Kirwin Moore kicking five goals.
This week BMW and Orroroo clash at Booleroo Centre, Jamestown/Peterborough hosts Southern Flinders at Peterborough and Broughton Mundoora travel to Crystal Brook to play the top side.

Bottom placed BMW caused one of the upsets of the year by defeating Orroroo by 44 points at Melrose. The homeside had 7 McCallum’s in the line up with four of them in the best on the ground, as they led from start to finish. Cam McCallum was in fine form up forward, kicking six goals while for Orroroo, Liam O’Dea and Will Bennett (3 goals) were best. The win was BMW’s second for the season and will be a much needed boost for the clib in what has been a long season.
Crystal Brook had to work hard to keep its unbeaten record, with a 15 point home win against Broughton/Mundoora. The Eagles jumped out of the blocks, adding 6.1 to 2.1 but the Brookies fought back in the second to regain the lead at half time by 8 points, thanks to a 6.4 to 1.2 term. In the end Crystal Brook just had enough class, outscoring Broughton/Mundoora 9.5 to 8.4 in what was a good game. For CB, Jason Cousins was best while Keagan Brinkley kicked six goals (30 for 2008) in a top effort. For the Eagles, Matthew Gale kicked five (46 for 2008) with Nicholas Edwards best.
At Gladstone, Southern Flinders maintained third spot with an impressive 87 point win over Jamestown/Peterborough. Things were tight in the first term (6.1 to 5.2) before the Tigers broke away in the second to add 6.5 to 2.2 to lead by 32 points at half time. It was one way traffic from there on, with Rhys Stanbridge up forward hard to stop kicking seven goals. Cody Turner and Jeremy Edson were best, while for JP, Nick Davis and Brad Breeding played well.
The NAFA has a week off for Zone Footy this weekend by when things resume on July 12, the Eagles host Jamestown/Peterborough at Port Broughton, top plays second at Crystal Brook, with the Brookies hosting Orroroo and at Melrose, BMW plays Southern Flinders.

Southern Flinders moved into the top four with a win over Broughton/Mundoora by 16 points at Laura. After a tight first term, the Tigers kicked away in the second to add 7.4 to 3.0 to have a 30 point lead at the main break. The Eagles fought back in the third term to get the margin back to 14 points at the last change, but Southern Flinders won the last, kicking 5.2 to 4.6 to take the victory. Michael Gaunt and Nathan Cunningham were best with John McKenna kicking five goals. For the Eagles, who have only won one match in their last four, Aaron Barclay and Josh McCallum were best, with Matthew Gale kicking six goals making it 41 for the season
Crystal Brook continued on their merry way, making it 9 from 9 with a 31 point win over BMW. In a low scoring game, BMW were never really in it, only managing 1.6 in the first half. For the Brookies, David Jeffries and Matthew Arbon were best, while for BMW Dustin Berryman and Lachlan McCallum were best.
Orroroo went two games clear in second spot, thanks to a narrow two point win over a gallant Jamestown/Peterborough. To be fair Orroroo’s inaccuracy in front of goal kept the Magpies in the game, and at three quarter time Orroroo led by just 3 points. Despite only adding 1.7 to 2.1 they held on to win to all but lock away a top two spot. Nathan Nutt and Jonathon Byerlee were best for the victors with Justin Duffy kicking five. For the Magpies, Hamish Tonkin and Greg Farr were best.
This week, Crystal Brook hosts Broughton/Mundoora, Orroroo meets BMW at Melrose while South Flinders plays Jamestown/Peterborough at Gladstone.

ORROROO BEATS BROUGHTON/MUNDOORA AND MOVE TO SECOND
Orroroo overcame a 13 point half time deficit to beat Broughton/Mundoora and thus move into second spot on the NAFA ladder. Playing at home the Eagles led for most of the day, before Orroroo added 3.6 to 1.2 to win by nine points. Best for the victors was Liam O’Dea and Matt Dignan (five goals) while for Broughton/Mundoora, Andrew Wilson and Aaron Barclay (three goals) played well.
At Jamestown, after a tight first half, the Magpies eased away in the second, adding 11.6 to 4.2 to win by 59 points, recording their third win of the season. For Jamestown/Peterborough, Jack Sandland and Scott Meschke were best, with the forward setup of Zac Noonan, Chris Stacy and Shane Heness working well, all adding four goals each. For BMW, Caleb Girdham and Jordan Arthur were best.
At Wirrabara, straight kicking kept Southern Flinders in the game as they trailed by just 16 points at the last change. But the Brookies upped it a gear in the last term, adding 5.4 to 1.0 to run out winners for the eighth time this year. Luke Kapitola and Matthew Jackman were good for Crystal Brook, while Jamie Kemp kicked eight goals. For Southern Flinders, Jeremy Edson and Matthew Woolford were their best.
This week, Southern Flinders and Broughton/Mundoora meet at Laura, Orroroo travels to Peterborough to meet the Magpies, while Crystal Brook hosts BMW.

Crystal Brook continued on its merry way in the NAFA, defeating Jamestown/Peterborough by 41 points, to make it seven wins from seven games. The Magpies matched the Brookies in the first half, trailing by just 12 points but in the third term, Cystral Brook added 6.3 to 1.1 to run away with the game. Matthew and Shane Arbon were best for Crystal Brook, with Jamie Kemp slotting home 5 goals, while for the Magpies, Greg Farr and Chris Stacey were best with Darren Woolford in good touch up forward kicking six goals.
Southern Flinders made it back to back wins with a convincing 52 point win over second placed Orroroo. A big second quarter by the Tigers, saw them add 6.1 to 0.1 to lead by 49 points at half time. Matthew Woolford and Jeremy Edson were best for Southern Flinders, while for Orroroo, Tim and Jonathon Byerlee were their best.
Broughton Mundoora returned to the winners list with a two point win over BMW. The Eagles looked set for a comfortable win over the bottom placed team as they led by 24 points at three quarter time, but BMW fought back and kicked 8.4 to 5.0 to fall just short of victory. For Broughton/Mundoora, Lee O’Donohue was best with Matthew Gale kicking five goals to move to 32 for the season. For BMW, Caleb Girdham and Dustin Berryman were their best.

MAGPIES UPSET EAGLES, BRINKLEY KICKS TEN FOR CRYSTAL BROOK
Jamestown/Peterborough had an upset win over Broughton/Mundoora by 19 points. The Magpies were out of the blocks kicking 6.2 to 2.0 in the first term and kept that lead heading into the main break. The Eagles came out firing in the third term, adding 6.1 to 3.3 to trail by just 9 points at three quarter time and looked as though they might run away with it. But to the Magpies credit, they rebounded in the last term, to grab just their second win of the year. Scott Mesechke and Nick Davis were best with Darren Woolford kicking five goals. For the Eagles, Ben O’Donohue and Andrew Wilson were best.
Southern Flinders gave BMW a 94 point thumping at Gladstone. Rhys Stanbridge and Brett Ballantyne were great up forward kicking six each, while Ben Brown was named best. For BMW, Michael Bury and Dylan McCallum were their best.
At Orroroo, Crystal Brook made it six from six with a 93 point win over the homeside. Orroroo stayed with them reasonably well in the first half to trail by 27 points at the main break, but it was Roosters all the way after that, as they added 12.9 to 1.5 in the second half. ROOSTERS CANE EAGLES IN MATCH OF THE DAY
In the top of the table clash at Crystal Brook, the home side powered to a 63 point win over Broughton/Mundoora. After a tight first term where CB led by 3 points, they held the Eagles goalless in the remaining three terms in a class performance. Matthew Jackman and Josh Gale were best for Crystal Brook, while Broughton/Mundoora, Avan Ireland and Angus Tod were their best.
Orroroo moved to second on the ladder, thanks to a 55 point win over BMW at Wilmington. A point separated the sides at half time before Orroroo added 8.8 yo just 0.2 to run out easy winners. Nathan Nutt and Keith Slade were best for Orroroo, while Andrew Milne and Dylan McCallum were best for BMW.
In a tight game at Jamestown, Southern Flinders opened their account for the season with a 14 point win over the Magpies. Matthew Woolford and Ben Brown were best for the victors while for Jamestown/Peterborough, Nick Davis and Greg Farr were best.

EAGLES WINGS CLIPPED BY ORROROO, CRYSTAL BROOK STAYS UNBEATEN
Orroroo brought Broughton/Mundoora's unbeaten run to an end, with 17 point home win on Saturday. The Eagles did start well adding 4.4 to 2.2 in the first term, but Orroroo dominated the next two terms, adding 11.11 to 5.1 to lead by 32 points at the final change. Broughton/Mundoora didn't toss in the towel and kicked 6.1 in the last but couldn't overcome the deficit. For Orroroo, Will Bennett (3 goals) and Matt Dignan were best, while for the Eagles, Josh McCallum was best with Brad Mercer kicking 5 goals.
Jamestown/Peterborough won their first game for 2008 with 28 point win over BMW at Wilmington. Things could have gone either way at 3/4 time when the Magpies led by 3 points, but they added 4.2 to 0.3 in the last term to gain a vital win. Chris Stacey (3 goals) and Scott Meschke were best for Jamestown/Peterborough while Caleb Girdham and Lachlan McCallum were best for BMW.
At Crystal Brook, the Roosters were too good for Southern Flinders winning by 96 points. Matthew Jackman was best for Crystal Brook, with Steven Merkel (5 goals) one of 14 individual goalkickers. Matthew Woolford and Nathan Cunningham were best for the Tigers

EAGLES CONTINUE TO FLY
Broughton Mundoora continued their excellent start to the season with a 69 point win over BMW at Port Broughton. Matthew Gale kicked eight goals to now have 17 from two games this season while Brad Mercer kicked five with Josh O’Donohue named best player. BMW fought hard in the first half, with the McCallums, Dylan and Casey named in the best with Cameron kicking three goals.
On Anzac Day at Crystal Brook, a good crowd saw the Roosters start in style adding 5.4 to 2.2. After an even second term, the homeside pulled away kicking 7.8 to 3.1 to have a match winning lead of 59 points at ¾ time. James Wardle (four goals) and Matthew Jackman were best for Crystal Brook, while for Jamestown/Peterborough, Scott Mesechke and Chris Stacey were the best for the Magpies.
At Laura, Orroroo and Southern Flinders had a tight tussle with the Kangaroos getting home by 4 points. Best for Orroroo were Scott Brand and Nathan Cunningham, while for South Flinders, Matt Dignan and Will Bennett were their best.

EAGLES WIN GRAND FINAL RE-MATCH
The Broughton/Mundoora Eagles opened the 2008 season in style when they defeated Orroroo at Port Broughton by 37 points. The 2007 Premier led at quarter time by three points, but in the next two terms the Eagles dominated adding 10.7 to 5.2 to lead by 30 points at three quarter time. Matthew Gale kicked 7 goals for the victors, while Port Adelaide recruit Lee O’Donohue kicked two with Nicholas Hewett named best. For Orroroo, Ben Foulis and Brodie O’Dea (ex-Walkerville) were the better players.
Crystal Brook and South Flinders were locked in a tight battle at Gladstone, the Roosters ahead by just 3 points at half time. From there it was one way traffic for Crystal Brook as they added 10.11 to 3.2 after the main break to win by 54 points. Matthew Coates and Joseph Slattery (four goals) were best, with Jamie Kemp also kicking 4 goals. Matthew Woolford and Nathan Cunningham were best for the Tigers, with Garry Hull kicking five goals in the losing effort.
BMW came from 11 points down at half time to beat Jamestown/Peterborough by 21 points, a 6.4 to 3.5 final term the crucial quarter. Jordan Arthur and Dustin Berryman were best for the BMW, while for the Magpies, John Arnold and Scott Meschke were their best.
This week, Crystal Brook hosts Jamestown/Peterborough, Broughton/Mundoora play BMW at Port Broughton and South Flinders and Orroroo will be chasing their first win at Laura.
