EAGLES ROAST ROOSTERS
28 July 2013 - from Kenn Rogers
The Southern Eagles welcomed the Bute football club to the very cold Edithburgh ground and from the start they commenced “cooking the Rooster ready for Sunday lunch”,
Led by the dynamic Brad Taheny and Jack Barlow the Red and Whites wondered what had hit them as the Eagles attacked and backed each other up in the use of hand ball, with high marking and accurate kicking. The opening goal of the game came from Cam Thyer followed shortly after with a brilliant goal from Bradley Taheny. Bute bounced back with two goals from Nick Prokopec which were his only majors for the game.
Nic Hage of the Eagles was up against James Venning in ruck and Hage was in control as were the rovers for the Eagles in the two Jacks, Barlow and Horan as they sent the ball forward to enable a good lead at the first change of 5-2 to Bute 2-2.
Kicking with a slight breeze Bute were expected to fire back in the second term but unfortunately for them the Eagles had other ideas as they rallied in all positions and virtually had the game sewn up at half time with a 43 point lead of 11-5 to Bute 4-4.
During this term the sun shone for a brief period and added some more life to the high flying Eagles and late in the term Bute scored their two goals from Douglas and Venning on the bell.
Bute planned their second half attack on the field at half time but this was to no avail as the Eagles surged further ahead. Taheny, Barlow and McWaters had shooting practise at goal in the third term to increase the lead whilst holding Bute scoreless. Adam Switala and Ben Halliday were trying hard for the Roosters but the relentless Eagles had the taste of victory in their beaks and did not let go. The further the game went the harder the Southerners went at the ball. This was a game where all players backed each other up and they ran in packs and tackled hard. Derek Clarke was playing well at Centre Half Forward and the defenders were all playing tight football
Nat Clark, Matthew Allen and Koby Evans were all playing well for the Eagles along with Cam Thyer and Matt Barlow.
The Roosters were without some of their stars and this showed but their fundamental skills with the team they had, was disappointing. In the final term Prokopec was moved out to the half forward line but this still did not work and the final score of Eagles 18-12 to Bute 6-5 was disappointing for the Bute followers and brought great joy the faithful Eagle supporters. The Bute better players tried very hard but to no avail as Sam Trengove lacked support, Ron Lee tried hard and James Venning was let down as the opposition snared what few touches to the ball he managed to get.
My best on ground went to Jack Barlow.
In other games the game at Maitland between the CY Cougars and Kadina was expected to be an easy win for the Kadina Bloodhounds but this was not to be as the Cougars were in front at the final change 7-7 to 5-10. Inaccurate kicking by Kadina almost led to their down fall as they scraped home in the final term 9-12 to the CY Cougars 8-7.
Willy Serle is returning to form following damage to his ribs some weeks ago as he booted six of Kadina’s 9 goals for the game. For the Cougars Ben Adams booted 3 with Cam Webster and Matt Daniels snaring a couple each. Best for Kadina were Serle, Josh Lawson and Ben Waller whilst best for the Cougars were Michael Ashby, Shaun Gatto and Ben Adams.
Paskeville returned to the winners list following last week’s defeat by Kadina when they won easily against Ardrossan at the Roos home ground. Cohen Mattner returned to form at the goal front kicking eight, while Todd Price, and Matt Rodda each booted three. For the Roos, Alex Pierson kicked 3.
Better players named for Paskeville were Mark Dolling, Todd Price, Cohen Mattner and Daryl Porter. Aiden Pratt, Zac Millar and Dwayne Treasure were best for Ardrossan.
Wallaroo had a solid win over Moonta 12-15 to 6-9. Darren Francis was best in front of goal for Wallaroo with 4 goals. Tyler Andrews and Dylan Aldridge each booted two goals for Moonta.
Best players for Wallaroo were Nathan Wright, Nathan Murphy, and Dylan Westlake. Best for Moonta went to Dylan Mansell, Ricky Mackereth and Kar Milde

PASKEVILLE FINALLY TOPPLED
by Kenn Rogers - 23 July 2013
Saturday saw the first trial of a three umpire system for the Y P . At Kadina, top of the ladder Paskeville were favourites to win but the Bloodhounds in fourth place had other ideas and scored the first defeat for the season of the Magpies.
The game was played in the “four season’s weather” as it started with Kadina kicking to the northern end of the ground favoured by a five to six goal wind. This was reduced to a four goal to one first term as a huge rain and hail storm blessed the ground half way through the term and the temperature dropped remarkably, Later in the game play took place in brilliant sunshine, but still plenty of wind.
Kadina broke away to a four goal to one lead in the first term with Jo Burgoyne the star of the game for Kadina as he was playing in the back pocket and changing on the ball. Josh Lawson was on fire and Patrick Keane was accurate in front of goal. Paskeville were without some of their better players but still had a very good side on the field.
The ruck duels between McNicol (Kadina) and Mulders was first class however Lawson and Zav Edwards were snaring the ball well and forcing it forward for McNamara, Price and Rodda able to score well.
The second term saw Paskeville kicking with the wind and they managed to score but were unable to stop Kadina from scoring into the wind with great efforts from Jo Burgoyne and Trevor Harradine along with Simon Kretschmer and Derek Sansbury all playing well in defence.
Scores at half time saw Kadina hold a narrow lead of 6-5 to Paskeville 5-5.
Star of the defenders for Paskeville was Michael Cichowski who held Willy Serle to one goal mfor the game and that was late in the game.
Kadina played as a team and wanted the win as they outplayed the Magpies in the second half seven goals to two to run out winners 13-7 to 7-12.
Keane booted four goals for Kadina whilst Matt Rodda and Todd Price managed two each for Paskeville.
Jo Burgoyne was best on ground for Kadina followed closely by Cameron March on the wing and Trevor Harradine along with Josh Lawson. Best for Paskeville were Todd Price, Mark Dolling who had the better of Ben Waller at centre and Shayne Biasci.
At Bute, the other match of the round between Bute and Wallaroo was a close game with the scores at three quarter time had Wallaroo 10-7 to Bute 9-9.
Wallaroo ran out winners by 13 points with Darren Francis booting 7 goals, Andrew Ross and Matthew Grillett each kicking 2 goals. At the other end of the ground Nick Prokopec booted 9 of Bute’s 13 goals . Better players for Wallaroo were Nat Wright, Chad Norsworthy and Darren Francis. CMS CROWS DOMINATE ROOSTERS
From Kenn Rogers - July 15, 2013
The game at Stansbury between the Crows and Bute finished the same way it started. In the first term the Crows dictated play adding 9.6 with ease and they did the same in the last term. Adam Jolly was in form once again in front of goal and had four goals at the first change. The Crows forward lines and across centre were well in control and did not let the ball enter the forward half of Bute in the opening term. Bute was undermanned with players absent whilst the Crows still had five of their top players unavailable.
In the second term the Roosters fired up getting the ball out of centre through Buza, Fergus and Switala to feed their “gun” full forward Nick Prokopec enabling him to kick four goals in a row to breathe life back into the game. A goal from Douglas helped Bute to outscore the Crows five goals to two with Nicholas Clift kicking the two for the Crows. Scores at half time had the Crows in front 11-10 to Bute 5-1.
Kicking 13-5 to 4-3 in the second half the Crows ran away with the game to win 24-15 to Bute 9-4. Adam Jolly booted 7 goals Ben O’Donohue kicked six and Nicholas Clift four. For Bute, Nick Prokopec finished with five goals.
Better players for the Crows were Ben O’Donohue, Adam Pitt, Andrew Parsons, Adam Jolly. Better players for Bute were Josh Whittaker, Jack Fergus and Nick Prokopec, and Adam Switala.
There was a close game at half time of the match between Moonta and Ardrossan with only three points separating the two sides. However Moonta kicked away in the second half and kicked 10-4 to Ardrossan’s 2-4 to finish the game at Moonta 18-9 Ardrossan 10-7.
Tyler Andrews six goals and Shane Moss four for Moonta whilst Alex Pierson led the Roos with four goals and Aiden Pratt three. Better players named for Moonta were Dylan Mansell, Tyler Andrews and Nick Blight with Aiden Pratt, Luke Wood and Theo Cotsaris were best for Ardrossan.

ICY CONDITIONS AND A LOW SCORING WEEKEND ON YP
by Kenn Rogers – 24 June 2013
The cold wet and windy conditions did not do the game of football much good last week with very low scores especially at Stansbury. At Kadina the conditions were shocking as only three goals were scored between Bloodhounds and the Southern Eagles.
At the first change Southern Eagles had their nose in front 1-1 to Kadina 1-0. Neither side could score a goal in the next two quarters, Kadina scoring the clincher in the final term to win by seven points.
Best players for Kadina were Joe Burgoyne, Josh Lawson, Jayson Manners and Ben Waller whilst for the Eagles Jack Barlow picked up best player with Matthew Allen, David McDonald and Derek Clarke.
The other interesting game where Moonta hosted Bute, where the scores at half time had Demons just in front 5-8 to 4-3. Bute found it hard to score in the third term managing just four points whilst Moonta kicked 4-2 and ran out the game in the final term to win 10-12 to 7-11.
Best for Moonta were Shane Moss, Dylan Mansell and Ricky Mackereth. Shane Moss booted 3 goals and Mansell and Aldridge kicked 2 each.
The game that all eyes were on was at Paskeville, to see how good were Wallaroo and whether they could match the unbeaten Magpies. This game was tight and low scoring apart from a burst from Paskeville late in the second and third terms when they virtually broke the game open as they led at half time 4-8 to 1-3 and 7-9 to 2-3 at the last change. Both sides could only manage four points between them in the last term with Paskeville winning by a convincing 34 points, 7-10 to Wallaroo 2-6.
Glen Mulders and Todd Price managed 2 goals each for Paskeville with Mark Dolling, Todd Price and Jake Westbrook best players. Nathan Murphy, Todd Alexander and Scott Flint were best for Wallaroo.
CMS CROWS v CY COUGARS
This game was played apparently in better weather than the other games although it was still icy cold, with strong winds and rain. The Crows opened the game with a rush of goals and Adam Jolly and Andrew Parsons having two goals each on the board in the first five minutes of the game.
The Crows were minus six of their star players through injury and this gave some of the fringe players a chance to prove their selection and that is what they did. Liam Cocks at CHB Angus Aldenhoven on the Half Back flank did well and when Harry Litster came on to the ground he starred also. Brett Baillie was unstoppable in ruck and he was ably supported by Osborn at centre and young Ben O’Donohue.
The Cougars were unable to win any position on the ground although Alex Haughey gave a good account of himself on the ball and in the forward lines. Chris Langford tried hard and Alex Greenslade whilst positioned at full back was out of touch but late in the game he moved up forward to play his part. Cam Webster was trying hard on the ball. All in all the Cougars were not up to par and are going to struggle to make the finals this season. Goal scorers for the Crows were Adam Jolly and Andrew Parson with five each, while Nigel Osborn and Ben O’Donohue each scored three.
Best named for the Crows were Nigel Osborn, Ben O’Donohue, Adam Jolly Liam Cocks Aaron Young and Brett Baillie. While for the Cougars it was Alex Haughey, Alex Greenslade, Chris Langford and Cam Webster who rated a mention.
Next weeks games should be easy pickings for the tipsters with Cougars hosting Moonta and on current form this should be a win for Moonta to solidify their place in the top five.
Bute host Paskeville and on form Paske should remain undefeated. Wallaroo host Ardrossan and will want to wipe last Saturdays loss out of their mind however the Ardrossan side would still be buoyant after their win last week, but this should be a win Wallaroo.
The Southern Eagles host their neighbours in The CMS Crows and this on form should be another win to the Crows although local derby’s are very unpredictable.

ROUND 9 REPORT
by Kenn Rogers - Monday 17 June 2013
Kadina V CMS Crows
The game at Kadina last Saturday between third placed CMS Crows and fourth placed Kadina was a must win affair by both sides.
The game opened with two depleted sides due to injuries but this did not stop the attack on the ball or the player by either side. Brett Baillie had to shoulder the bulk of the ruck work for the Crows against Ben McNicol for the Bloodhounds, as Jono Lee was out injured. The Crows jumped away to a good start with Ben Millar working hard in the forward lines and had three goals on the board and this was followed by Adam Jolly 2 and Wade Thompson with one. Kadina was winning well in defence with Joe Burgoyne being a thorn in the Crows forward lines as he was playing well.
Kadina clawed back late in the game with 2 goals from Papps and one from Daniel Toole.
The second term saw the Kadina movers and shakers in Waller Lawson Harradine and Driver exerting pressure on the Crows around the centre area. Andrew Parsons was playing well on the ball and in the forward lines but the younger players were finding it hard to get into the game. At the long break the Crows led 10-6 to Kadina 9-3.
Early in the third term there was a big melee in the Crows forward lines resulting in one Kadina player being reported for striking. As a result of this melee the Crows appeared to be shaken and could not settle down until late in the term. Harradine Lawson Derek Sansbury and Luke Driver were well on top in this term. Adam Jolly and Andrew Parsons were on fire for the Crows in the forward lines and they managed two goals each for the term to have the Crows leading at the final change14-7 to Kadina 12-6.
Play was hard and tough in the final term with neither side shirking a tackle or a hard bump and in the end the inaccuracy shooting for goal cost Kadina the game as they had one more shot at goal than the Crows and in the final term they had the opportunity to win but were let down in front of goal as they booted 3-4 to the Crows 3 goals in this term.
Final scores being the CMS Crows 17-7 defeating Kadina 15-10.
Andrew Parsons kicked 6 goals and Adam Jolly 5 were best in the forward area for the Crows whilst Brendan Papps was giving Ryan Brundell a hard time in front of goal for Kadina as he booted give.
Best players for the Crows were Andrew Parsons, Adam Jolly, Nigel Osborn and Brett Baillie whilst for Kadina Zac Edwards, Ben McNicol, Luke Driver, Brendan Papps and Joe Burgoyne all played well.
Both sides suffered a number of injuries due to the heavy tackling by both sides.
Ardrossan broke through for their first win of the season when they defeated the Southern Eagles at Ardrossan. The Roos have been threatening for a number of weeks and have now broken the ice. Ardrossan won 14-7 to the Eagles 9-12 with Alex Pierson booting 6 goals Nick Talbot 5. Cameron Thyer formerly of Warooka returned to play for the Eagles booting 2 goals and made the best players. Thyer has been playing Country football in Victoria for the past few seasons.
In a joyful day for the Roos their best were Matthew Schulz, Theo Cotsaris and Alex Pierson . Nathan Allen Matthew Allen Jack Horan and Thyer were best for the Eagles.
Paskeville confirmed their place at the top of the ladder with a huge win against Moonta at Paskeville as they won 27-11 to 9-8. Todd Price and Ashley Bruce each kicked 5 goals and Cohen Mattner 4 whilst Dylan Mansell kicked 3 and Ricky Hunter 2 for Moonta.
Best players named for Paskeville were Todd Price, Matt Rodda, Mark Dolling and Glen Mulders.
Best for Moonta were Dylan Mansell, Clay Elsworthy and Ricky Mackereth.

In Season 2013, they won their first 21 quarters. Since quarter time v Paskeville in Round 7, they have won just one quarter (1st v Wallaroo) and lost six.
WALLAROO DOMINANT OVER REIGNING PREMIERS
by Kenn Rogers, 3 June 2013
The Bulldogs were dominant after the opening term of their game against the CMS Crows at Minlaton. The conditions were ideal winter football weather and the running doggies handled the conditions far better than the Crows.
Rain stayed away for the first term and conditions were reasonably good but a little slippery underfoot. Adam Jolly opened the scoring for the Crows in the first three minutes of the game however Westlake replied shortly after as did Trevillion. The Crows were in control in this term and finished on 6-5 to Wallaroo 3 goals.
The Crows failed to score another goal for the game. The young Doggies wanted the ball and handled the ball, and worked with each other to hit the front late in the game and run out winners 9-6 to the Crows 6-13.
The Wallaroo side ran in packs backing each other up, whilst the Crows were chasing jumpers. The conditions deteriorated as the day went on and rain fell consistently during the second half, making the ball hard to handle and players to hold their feet. Star forward Andrew Ross scored 2 goals as did Matthew Grillett and Riley Westlake. Andrew Parsons and Adam Jolly each kicked 2 for the Crows. Best for Wallaroo were Nathan Wright, Darren Francis and Tyler Flint. Adam Jolly, Craig Fitzgerald and Sam Graetz were best for the Crows
At Yorketown between the Southern Eagles and Paskeville, conditions were difficult and the game came down to a hard slog. Scores in this game were level at half time with both sides on 4-4 each. This was top playing seventh place. The final score saw Paskeville run out winners in a low scoring game 9-8 to the Eagles 5-6. Goals were hard to come by with Todd Price and Cohen Mattner each kicking 2 goals for Paske. Best players were Matt Rodda, Abraham Helfand, and Glen Mulders whilst best for the Eagles were Derek Clarke, Shaun McWaters and Jack Barlow.
Kadina scored a huge win at Bute with accurate kicking 17-4 to Bute 8-12. Trevor Harradine 4 and Scott Gunning 3 were the main scorers for Kadina and Victor Buzza scored 2 for Bute. Star goal kicker Nick Prokopec booted just the one goal. Best for Kadina were Trevor Harradine, Alex East and Patrick Keane whilst Andrew Waters, James Venning and Dane Avery were best for Bute.
The game at Maitland between The C Y Cougars and Ardrossan saw the Cougars run out winners 10-11 to 5-7. Jo Hunt and Alex Greenslade each booted 2 goals whilst Nick Talbot kicked 2 for the Kangaroos. Chris Langford, Corey Graham and Benn Adams were best for the Cougars and Nick Brind, Aiden Pratt along with Zac Millar were best for Ardrossan

B. Smily:georgia;font-size:12px;">Better players for the Crows were Ben O’Donohue, Adam Pitt Jarrod Curtis and Andrew Parsons. Craig Fitzgerald finished the game with six goals and four of those were in the final term. Scores in the second half saw the Crows in front 13-4 to 11-8 by Moonta who made a good effort to support their coach.
Better players for Moonta were Dylan Mansell, Shane Moss along with Luke Moss and youngster Tyler Andrews who finished with five goals.
The game saw the Crows improve their percentage and send Moonta back to the drawing board.
CY Cougars v Bute
This was the closest game of the round with the Cougars recording a good win with accurate kicking 16-4 to Bute 15-5. Jo Hunt booted 5 and Michael Ashby 4 whilst Nick Prokopec had a ripper for Bute, as he kicked 10 goals.. Best players for Cougars were Michael Ashby, Alex Haughey and Jo Hunt whils Bute named Nick Prokopec, Nathan Hornhardt and Dane Avery as best.
Kadina v Ardrossan
A goal kickers paradise saw Brendan Papps and Willy Serle each boot 10 for their win of 28-17 to Ardrossan 13-4. Alex Pierson kicked 5 for the Roos
Best players for Kadina were Serle, Papps and Josh Lawson whilst for Ardrossan Theo Cotsaris, Zac Millar and Matthew Schulz.
Wallaroo v Southern Eagles
This was another high scoring game with Wallaroo scoring a convincing win 27-5 to the Eagles 8-9.
Andrew Ross scored 8 goals Darren Francis 5 and Matthew Grillett kicked 4. Ben Sinclair and Derek Clarke each booted 3 for the Eagles.
Better players named were Ryan Walton, Riley Westlake and Shaun Trevillian for Wallaroo and for the Eagles Derek Clarke Jack Horan and Tom Taheny got the nod.
The game of the year is at Paskeville between the Magpies and the CMS Crows. At present they are level on points with the Crows having a better percentage and this game will be a ripper.
At this stage without knowing availability of player for either side I lean to the Crows to win.
In other games the Southern Eagles take on the C Y Cougars with the Cougars finding form I think they should win. Ardrossan play Bute and the Kangaroos are on the improve but they will have to combat the star of the Roosters Nick Prokopec. If they can do this they will break the ice.
Moonta will host Kadina and on last Saturday’s performances this will be a win for Kadina. Serle and Papps are in fine form and will bag a number of goals between them.

Round Five report by Kenn Rogers
Sunday 12 May 2013
Paskeville have taken over top place in Yorke Peninsula football after an unimpressive win against the bottom side Ardrossan, who are going through a new regime with their new coach “Dusty” Miller.
Ardrossan started well to lead at quarter time, but Pasky took over in the third term, adding eight goals to one to decide the outcome. The Magpies had 11 goalkickers and have started the season well.
Wallaroo continue to show they are a side to be reckoned with as they brushed aside a hot and cold Moonta by eleven points to hold third place on the ladder. Darren Francis and Andrew Ross (5 goals each) were dangerous up forward. Moonta’s best term was in the last when they added 6.2 to 2.1 but it was too little too late from the inconsistent Demons.
Bute supporters were glad to have Nick Prokopek back in front of goal as he booted seven valuable goals in their win against the Southern Eagles. Last week the Eagles defeated Moonta by three points and this week headed to the Bute ground to try and repeat the effort but all was to no avail.
Many experts gave the Cougars every chance of recording a win at Kadina against the Bloodhounds but this also was not to be. Kadina bounced back to win by 40 points.
The ladder now has Paskeville on top with 10 points from the Crows and Wallaroo both on 8, Moonta and Kadina on 4, making up the top five. Cougars, Eagles, and Bute have each got 2 points with Ardrossan yet to open their account.

JAMES MOSS KICKS 12 IN CMS CROWS GRAND FINAL WIN
Report from Kenn Rogers
The CMS Crows won their fourth YPFL Premiership and first since 2006 with a comprehensive 74 point win over Kadina at Bute on Saturday.
With a star studded team the CMS Crows stamped their superiority on the season with a brilliant display of class football. Superlatives are insignificant to describe the class of this side and words don’t really do justice to how well they played. Credit must go to the Father/son coaching staff combination of John and Jamie Kemp for their dedication to the side.
Choosing best players was extremely hard as all played well and the winning side had no passengers. James Moss was on fire at the goal front with 12 goals from 13 shots.
The CMS Crows were on top of the ladder all year and capped off a good season with a brilliant win.
The opening term of the game between the CMS Crows and Kadina for the 2012 flag saw both sides taking the opportunity to go hard at the ball.
Troy Goldsworthy started the Crows on their way with a goal at the four minute mark and this was followed by a series of four behinds before Wade Thompson kicked another goal at the 17 minute mark as they had kept the Kadina side to no score, with the defenders were playing very tight football. Finally Trevor Harradine got the Bloodhounds going with their solitary goal for the term. James Moss finished the term with the first of his 12 goals for the game to have the Crows in control at 3-6 to Kadina 1 goal.
In the second term the Crows gradually cleared away with great efforts by Dylan Gillies on the ball and Ben O’Donohue who was playing well. Kadina’s Jono Lee was winning the hit outs but the work of Troy Clements and Wade Thompson for the Crows made any ruck advantage redundant. For Kadina, Josh Lawson and Ben Waller were working hard but were unable to get into the game.
Brett Baillie at centre half forward was playing well for the Crows until he left the field with a broken Collar Bone after a hard tackle. Jarrod Curtis at centre half back was impassable.
Leon Franz was also playing well in ruck for Kadina when relieving Lee but the Crow centre line was working well.
With a good lead at the half time break the Crows were looking good for the flag as they lead 7-8 to 2-3.
James Moss was literally eating footballs in the third term as he was able to boot seven goals for the term and give the Crows a huge lead. The flag was pretty much in the Crows keeping as the centres and wing players in Pitt and Goldsworthy surged the ball forward and Kadina had no answer. Sam Mumford had to take on the half forward duties after Baillie left the field and did his job well.
Kadina were struggling to have any winning players apart from Faulkner who shut Osborn out of the game at centre, but that was all he could do as he had no influence on the game. Nick Rawson and Luke Driver were under siege in defence and Browning was no answer to the strong marking of Moss. At the other end of the ground Serle was without a goal in the first half but redeemed himself in the final term with four goals when all was lost. Shannon Goldsmith had done his job well at full back for the Crows.
Leading 17-9 to 6-3 at the final change the Crows were home, but Kadina showed plenty of fight in the final term to kick five goals, while the Crows added six.
The Crows did not have any passengers for the day and won almost every position. Simon Kretschmer was playing well on the half back flank for Kadina until he was
stretchered off in the second term.
With only losing one game during the season (and that was to Kadina) the Crows deservedly won the premiership with superior skills and determination.

SHANE JORDAN OF MOONTA WINS MAIL MEDAL
by Kenn Rogers, September 20, 2012
In a thrilling A grade medal count the winner Shane Jordan of Moonta won the day with 21 votes from Jono Lee second on 20, while Josh Lawson was third on 19 both from Kadina.
In the B grade count Brendan Ramsey of Paskeville was a clear winner with 27 votes from Leon Franz 18 and James Lawry on 16 with both these players from Kadina.
The interesting point about Brendan’s win is that he stepped down from A grade this year to give the younger lads a go, the same thing occurred back in 1981 when his father did exactly the same and won the B grade medal that year.
