MOLYNEUX WINS BAROSSA, LIGHT & GAWLER
Charlie Molyneux won the Schluter and Mail Medals with 21 votes on Monday night for being judged the Fairest and Most Brilliant A-Grade Footballer playing in the Barossa, Light & Gawler Football Association during the 2017 season.
Charlie only played 10 games due to injury which made the win even more special.Charlie is the first Gawler Central player to win this award since Jason Blakemore won in 2015 and Daniel Stanley in 2014.
It is the ninth medal to be won by Gawler Central and their fourth in the B.L.&G.
Second was Tyson Irlam, Willaston (third last year) with 18 votes and Josh Hand, Freeling also 18.
A host of players then polled 13 – Tylah Saunders, Angaston; Adam Cockshell, Freeling; Domenico Costanzo, Kapunda and Jackson Press, South Gawler.
The count was run by the B. L. & G. Association at the Vine Inn Barossa, Nuriootpa with around 300 people attending

Lawrence won previously in 2014. He missed the first game and then the last three with injury, polling in seven of eight games that he played

West Coast Hawks champion ruckman Dylan Kelsh has won the 2017 Mail Medal ahead of high leaping team mate Cameron Montgomerie and Wirrulla work horse Ryan Watson, who each take home the Presidents Medal. Despite missing three games, Dylan polled an outstanding 46 votes, holding a lead most of the way through the season, which held out the West Coast Hawks own view, given he also finished second in the Most Valuable Player award, as judged by clubs. |
The Hawks performed very strongly in the count, Montgomerie with 33 votes, Dolling and Mc Evoy 27 votes each. Jake Mc Evoy wins the League JV Day Medal as the best under 21 player. The Hawks have swept through the minor round undefeated, with this form strongly reflective in the count.
